Quick info
About Leith Shawarma
Leith Shawarma is a Middle Eastern restaurant at 156 Leith Walk in Edinburgh, serving shawarma wraps alongside naan breads made fresh in the tandoor. That pairing gives each wrap a bread baked on site. The wraps come with chicken or lamb, or as a mixed wrap with both, and the chicken is cooked on an electric grill. Two sauces, including garlic and chilli sauce, come with the shawarma, and chips are served alongside. A BBQ chicken wrap is also on the menu for those who want something other than shawarma. The menu extends beyond wraps to a lamb shish kebab.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often return for the chicken and lamb shawarma wrap, with several describing generous portions and well-cooked meat, and one saying they kept half for supper. Close behind are the chips and the naan, which two reviewers say is made fresh in the tandoor. A few also single out the mixed wrap, the lamb shish kebab, the wings and the Sarma, which one reviewer found not too vinegary. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and visitors from Inverness and South Yorkshire say they made the trip for it.

“Finally an awesome Shawarma in leith! Generous portions, friendly staff and tasty genuine food. The chicken was seasoned and the two sauces went well with the dish. Oh and the naan breads are made fresh in the tandoor which is a nice touch. I’m looking forward to trying the rest of the menu 😋”

“I was in Edinburgh from South Yorkshire for work and had a craving for a good shawarma. This spot appeared with excellent reviews, so I made the trip over to Leith to try it. I'm so glad I did—the chicken shawarma was incredibly flavorful and delicious, and the chips were excellent as well. The staff were really friendly and funny too, which made the whole experience even better. It's a good thing I'm trying to watch my calories, otherwise I would've gone straight back for another one! I enjoyed every single bite, and I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the area—that's guaranteed.”
