“This was the worst experience ever. The staff were so rude and horrible apart from one. Do not come here if you have children they expect children to be seen and not heard. The vibe was extremely weird in there something wasn’t right. Also the toilets were filthy which really puts me off. We left before even having food because of how horrible the staff were. I have never had an experience like this in a restaurant before. I don’t usually leave reviews but had to for this!”

“This is a great Chinese restaurant - my favourite in the city. I've been going for many years and they always stay true to the simple principles of a solid menu of tasty food with lots of choices, friendly service and a warm interior. Absolutely recommend this place - don't listen to the bad reviews on here.”

“Very disappointing evening at Kweilin. Staff were rude when booking the table, they mixed up our booking when we arrived, the place was soooo noisy we could barely hear who we were sitting next to. When we got home my ears were ringing like after a night out clubbing. I have never experienced that in a restaurant before. The food was nice but really very average, as was the menu. Meat proportions were on the spare side including chicken fried rice and chow mein. The seafood was a bit on the chewy side, which was a pity as it looked lovely. Desserts were fine - ice cream. To cap it all a small amount was added to the bill which we hadn't authorised. Granted it was in pence not pounds but it's still not right to do that. I really dislike giving bad reviews but ultimately it's caveat emptor from me.”

“The review below is Not true there was no racial comments made. We sat beside this table And heard the staff ask them to keep their voices down as it made the whole section of the restaurant uncomfortable and unable to talk within their table. Do not believe these lies, The restaurant staff were nothing but accommodating to every table, Including the table in question.”

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, helpful staff come up most often, with one group describing a birthday for ten handled in a thoughtful and efficient way. The food is called legit Cantonese, tasty and well presented, and one reviewer notes a separate Chinese menu of traditional dishes. Another says it can take a bit to arrive, and a third calls it good but not exceptional. The complaints are specific. One diner found the chicken fried rice and chow mein light on meat, the seafood chewy, and the room so loud their ears rang afterward. That diner also reports a mixed-up booking, rude staff when reserving, and a small unauthorised amount added to the bill. Another reviewer reports rude staff, an expectation that children be seen and not heard, and filthy toilets, and left before any food arrived. Two reviewers dispute a claim of racial comments by staff, saying a very loud table was simply asked to keep their voices down. Longtime regulars still describe the old school, kitsch dining room as warm.
