About Condita
Condita is a fine dining restaurant in Edinburgh at 15 Salisbury Place, with six tables and a single surprise tasting menu. A small sketch, a kaleidoscope and a bookmark at the table hint at the ingredients before the food arrives. The kitchen cooks with wild and organic Scottish fish, meat and game, alongside foraged produce and vegetables, fruit and herbs the team grows itself. The meal runs to about nine plates over several hours, and staff talk through the ingredients and preparation of each dish. Hosts take coats and seat guests, and the team explains how the menu works. Sourdough arrives with two types of butter, including goat butter. An optional wine pairing draws on a list that leans organic, biodynamic and small-batch, and a vegetarian menu is available. Reservations are required. The team plays vinyl records during service.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers center on the surprise tasting menu, praising course after course with layer upon layer of flavour and no dips between dishes. The venison main is called a bold choice handled very well, while one diner singles out the sourdough with goat butter and the rhubarb dessert. The vegetarian menu is said to get just as much thought as the regular one. Wine pairings are repeatedly called delicious, and servers balance seriousness with fun conversation. Criticism is narrower. One first-time tasting-menu diner found the sweet, savoury and spicy combinations overpowering and the many-plate evening too long, and another disliked the toilets, with vintage food magazine covers glued to the walls, and wants them renovated. A kaleidoscope and a bookmark waiting at one table served as clues to the meal ahead.

“From the start to end, this was a wonderful experience. We went for our first wedding anniversary and seriously had one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. Our servers were incredible, the wine was delicious and the food was stellar.”

“For a beginner in this style of dining, I didn’t enjoy all the different course. Lots of unusual (for me) combinations of flavours with savour/sweet/fragrant and spicy which I found overpowering. We were there for 3.5 hours for about 9 plates, which I am not used to and did not enjoy :( My expectations to taste more fresh flavours of the ocean and earth/meat itself However we did really appreciate the presentation and art behind each plate again this review based on someone who is not used to this style of dining, if someone is in the same boat then you might find this feedback relevant”

“Wonderful experience at Condita! Yuri and Ben took amazing care of us, the food, the atmosphere, the wine pairing, all top notch. Thank you, hope we make it back one day!”

“A world class dining experience from the off. Condita serve a surprise tasting menu priced at £160 that really puts you in the trusted hands of the small team of chefs headed up by Tyler King. The food demonstrated layer upon layer of flavour that was extremely well balanced and really got you thinking. Sometimes taster menus have dips in them between dishes but each course here was fantastic. The interesting wine list is compiled often with organic and/or biodynamic farming methods in mind and small batch made where possible. A real food lovers paradise.”

“This is an exceptional restaurant where passion comes through in every element. From the team playing their favorite songs on vinyl records, to the intensity of the preparation that goes into each dish. The description blew us away every time with how many ingredients and processes were used to create the incredible flavors. Still, although they clearly take their craft seriously, it’s also fun and comfortable. Highly recommend!”
