About The Mosque Kitchen
The Mosque Kitchen is a South Asian restaurant at 31-33 Nicolson Square in Edinburgh, run as a canteen where diners choose their food at the counter and the staff serve it to them. There is no table service, and no alcohol is served. The menu centres on curries with rice, including a vegetarian curry and lamb rogan, with naan and pillau rice alongside. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are available, so a group can order from the same counter. Chicken burger meals and doner kebab also appear on the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return mostly for the curries with rice, praised as excellent, tasty and authentic, with one describing a tender lamb rogan with pilau rice and naan, and another a vegetarian curry with a portion enough for one person. Close behind is the homemade naan. Diners describe cafeteria style self service at the counter, vegetarian and non vegetarian options, and fast, budget friendly meals, often before a concert, during the fringe festival or ahead of a hike. Several call the food home cooked in taste, and the seating basic but fine. The caveats are mostly about everything beyond the curries. One family found the chicken burger meal, small doner kebab and doner meal box only so-so, and would come back for a curry but not those. One reviewer called the service efficient but could be more attentive. The harshest review objected to the biryani and a small portion, with three dishes crammed onto one small plate, calling it poor value for the prices charged.

“A place where you can rest, feel at home with brothers and sisters. They serve great variety of food for just a bit expensive than free. Seating is cozy, people are awesome and helpful as well. Great for eid visits and getting sone food ranging from meat, rice, soup, bread to ice cream and coffee. They always welcome you.”

“We went for dinner before a concert. Very good currys, vegetarian options available, good portions at great prices. Buffet style service, you select what you want and they serve at the counter so no table service. Also no alcohol but that's not a problem. Basic seating / table arrangement which works fine.”
