  “We just had a fantastic dinner here. Service was fantastic and just on a personal note, playlist had The Strokes, Joy Division, and Radiohead so we were in heaven. The steak pie was incredible. Full of flavor, you will have to wait about ten minutes to eat though because it was so hot. Outstanding burger with perfectly cooked chips. Both desserts finished off a truly fantastic meal. Also, we got the wagyu special topped with pappardelle, because we had to. Every ingredient in that dish was perfect.”

  “I had high expectations for The Scran & Scallie given its reputation in Edinburgh, but unfortunately, our meal was a massive letdown from start to finish. For a place that positions itself as an elevated dining experience, the food quality simply did not match the price tag. We started with the scallops, which are supposed to be one of their signature dishes. While they tasted okay, there was absolutely nothing special or memorable about them. Things went downhill with the mains. I ordered a beef dish, but I really didn't like the sauce it came with. The biggest disappointment was definitely the Highland Wagyu burger. For Wagyu, you expect something juicy and premium, but this burger arrived incredibly dry and surprisingly small. To make matters worse, the chips served on the side were clearly just cheap, frozen things. They tasted bad, had a terrible texture, and felt like something you’d get from a basic takeaway rather than a proper kitchen. We hoped the dessert might save the evening, but we ended up completely disliking that as well. By the time the bill arrived, we felt like we had completely wasted our money. It’s safe to say the comment around our table at the end of the night was unanimous: we won't be back again. There are far better places to eat in Edinburgh.”

  “Had lunch here after a trip to a nearby spa for my wife's birthday. The atmosphere is good, the staff attentive and the food was outstanding. Starters wise, my wife's scallops and my asparagus (special) were delicious but the main event for us both was the Pork special that we both ordered as a main. This particular dish was so well conceived and so well balanced that I honestly had go back 5 years to think of the last time I'd had a dish so good (for reference, a Venison carpaccio in Skye). I had the chocolate fondant and my wife had the sticky toffee pudding to finish - both excellent, my wife is particularly fond of sticky toffee pudding and has opinions but this one was very much to her tastes. All in all a great meal and a place we would definitely look to book for meals again when out in Edinburgh.”
