About The Beachy Head
The Beachy Head is a pub on Beachy Head Rd in Eastbourne, in a building that began as the Queen's Restaurant in 1880 and later became a hotel. It overlooks the Seven Sisters cliffs, with views across the fields to the South Downs and out to the sea. The kitchen serves pub food, including fish and chips and a banana cheesecake for dessert. Cask ale is on the bar, and wine is sold by the large glass. Cards and Jenga are on hand for children waiting for their food. The pub sits along the Seven Sisters walk, so walkers can stop in, and a bus stop is just outside. Drivers can use the car park, with extra parking possible nearby.

Customer Review Summary
The view is what reviewers return to most: the sea on one side, the fields toward the South Downs on the other, and a beer garden at the back praised for its sunset. Walkers on the Seven Sisters route describe it as a great lunch stop, and one reviewer advises arriving shortly before sunset. Opinions on the food are more mixed. Banana cheesecake, fish and chips and a spicy carrot soup earn praise, and one regular calls the bar snacks tasty. Others find the cooking basic, average pub food. The sharpest complaint comes from a Mother's Day lunch where both the starter and the main arrived after a long wait, the roast lamb was chewy, and a child's rice was like a rock and went back. Another diner found only one cask ale available and noted that a nearly 18-year-old was refused a beer while eating a family meal. Several describe friendly staff and a good welcome, and one says their dog was welcomed too.

“Its the location. Looking out over the fields to the distant South Downs. The other way the shimmering light reflecting off the sea. You could not pick a better spot to drink a glass of wine which is punchy at over £10 for a large glass. But in the August light with that view is there a finer spot in whole land to sit and contemplate?”

“It was an extremely busy hot August Saturday, so many customers piling in. Staff did well to cope. Food was okay, average pub food. Not the best pub food, but not the worst. Views are incredible. I'd go back just for the scenery.”

“Busy on a Sunday lunch. The car park was full. Additional parking is possible nearby. We could get a table without reservation. It is a great place to have lunch along the Seven Sisters walk. The food are good.”

“Jan was wonderful, the best place and nicest views especially after walking the seven sisters. Food was so tasty too and reasonably priced. there is a bus stop just outside if you feel like finishing your walk here or can continue onto eastbourne.”

“The location is really lovely and beautiful. Unfortunately the restaurant does let itself down. The food was quite basic and typical pub food for the price. We like the beer garden out of the back where you can enjoy beautiful views, and the sunset.”
