Quick info
About Blue Bar Cafe
Blue Bar Cafe is an alternative rock and metal bar in Eastbourne, at 2D Pevensey Rd. The music leans heavily on rock and metal, with dedicated metal nights, and the walls are covered in rock posters. Karaoke nights give regulars a chance to take the microphone themselves. Low blue lighting and fairy lights on the ceiling set the look of the room. The bar is small, with a small area upstairs and limited seating. Door staff are on duty. It stays open later than other bars in Eastbourne, which makes it a late-night option for people who want rock and metal after the other venues have closed.

Customer Review Summary
Cheap drinks and cocktails draw the most praise at this Eastbourne bar, alongside an alternative rock and metal crowd that several describe as a closely knit, kind community. The staff are repeatedly called friendly, and the later closing and weekday opening are noted as pluses. One visitor found the tap beer good but missed real ales, while another thought the San Miguel was not the best. Music is the main complaint. One visitor expecting rock, given the walls of rock legend posters, found Sabrina Carpenter and Bruno Mars playing and was told it was not a rock night. Another enjoyed a metal night and its DJ, who took requests, but found the drinks poor and the seating short. A Wednesday karaoke night drew a complaint after a long wait ended with a song request thrown in the bin. Regulars say the bartenders remember their usual order.

“Misleading. It gives a rock bar vibe… so turning up on any night without specific advertising, one would expect rock music. I checked their socials and it said nothing about any specific night. I turned up and they are playing Sabrina carpenter and Bruno mars. While I’m not dissing any of these artists…. That’s not what I expected. Especially that their wall are covered in rock legend posters. I asked th DJ: shouldn’t it be a rock place, he responded - not tonight. Again… nothing to be found about this non rock night online. Disappointing. But I guess it’s ok if you’re into this sorta type. But staff is very nice.”

“Lovely drinks for a cheap price. Once you start going regularly the bartenders remember what you normally get. Great workers there especially the bouncer (Davide).”

“This is a weird one. While the music and vibes are mostly very good, I went on a metal night and my ears had a good time and I was surrounded by people with similar taste... The drinks were disgusting, the glasses were unwashed and there was frankly the wrong setup entirely for this type of night. The place is confused if it's a dive bar or not. It could be much nicer with not much effort. That said, the DJ was great, took requests and was patient and tolerant. I'll be back for a metal night if I'm in the area. Fix the drinks, fix the dirty glasses, get some more seating and tables. Get that DJ in more frequently. Specials for regulars. Make it a hangout spot”
