  “Felt it was a good place to eat when we first went in but was concerned about the lack of cooking smell as you get in good cookeries. Waited for 35mins and the food very poor . The pie crust went hard before the dry interior was eaten , clearly microwaved for too long , burger was way too dry well well overcooked. Chicken wings had a bit of edible chicken close to the bone all five were the tiny bits of wing . When I complained the lady told me we had eaten too much too complain ( starving by now) . We spent £40 on drinks and 42£ on food it won’t happen again the rest of our family were meant to be meeting us but we told them not too”

  “I came with my mum on a Friday afternoon, the waitresses were all very friendly and helpful and were chatting to my mum who enjoys a chat. The food was lovely. Would definitely go back. Good atmosphere and nice large restaurant area.”

  “Absolutely disappointed. Disgusting service. Staff were no help and so rude. Also the chef bit into the meat with his bare hands on the cavery shoved it in his gob and shrugged his shoulders. (When i bought this up too the manager she said he was tasting the beef my table said was dry/tough) Disgusting. Manager was actually so rude it was vile. Also we didn't swear at chefs like they manger had said. We simply asked too speak too the chef regarding the beef. My table had been made out too make out as if we were lying which infact we were not. All we simply wanted was an apology, wasnt even going too ask for a refund. I would really advise people if your going too eat here too be prepared for rude customer service if your not happy with the food/service because you won't get anywhere. I have been a waitress myself and I would NEVER treat anybody like this especially paying customers. I'd highly avoid but if you want a dry/tough flavourless roast dinner and awful service here's your place!!!”

  “Myself and my daughter visited Market Cross after receiving a promotional leaflet in the post. I wish we hadn’t bothered! The service from the 2 members of staff on duty was awful. Half the restaurant was closed off. My daughter is heavily pregnant and asked for a more comfortable chair but was told no she couldn’t have one even though there was plenty in the closed off section. The only chair they offered was a hard wooden low seat. The food was very poor. My daughter ordered macaroni cheese and it was so overcooked that they smothered it in bbq sauce to try and hide it. I would definitely not recommend this restaurant & certainly won’t be returning! Why bother trying to promote your restaurant when your staff clearly do not want to work or help their customers. Awful experience!”

  “Attended today with my mum for a carvery. It was our first visit since it changed back to a carvery, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The meat looked like it had been sitting out for days. The roast potatoes were overly sweet and soggy, and we had to ask for fresh stuffing because the original batch didn't look edible. The peas and carrots were dried up, and when we asked for fresh sauces, it took around 10 minutes for them to arrive. Thankfully, a lovely lady from behind the till stepped in and sped things up, so credit to her for the excellent customer service. To make matters worse, we were only allowed to choose two meats. Sadly, we barely touched our meals apart from the meat we were served because the rest of the food was not enjoyable. I was extremely unhappy with the overall experience. We left feeling disappointed and ended up going elsewhere to buy food because we were still hungry. I will also be emailing head office to make them aware of our experience, as the standard of food today was completely unacceptable. Would I recommend it? no. This was one of the worst carveries we've had, and we wouldn't rush to return.”

  “We decided to give The Market Cross another try after hearing it was under new management, and we're so pleased we did. The atmosphere was lovely, the food was great, and the service was excellent. Shannon was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We'll definitely be back!”

  “booked a table for four on the 3.4.26 for 7pm . The food quality was well below standard. Garlic mushrooms and Cauliflower wings were both over cooked ( Burnt ).I ordered Chicken and mushroom pie main course with only 15 Chips served with hard peas .The carvery was dried out meat and the red cabbage had skin over the top . The carrots were rock hard . The stuffing was unrecognisable. When The Carvery Chef finally turned up , he was asked how long the meat had been left out on the hot plate. He didn't know and was not particularly interested at all very Poor attitude. The cheesecake was no better , it was very dry and crumbled. This was probably left in the freezer for too long however. The make server and Assistant manageress were very helpful we felt sorry for them as they are front of house and not the chefs.”

  “We decided to celebrate our mothers day lunch here. We had carvery and ordered some kid meals for children. The carvery was okey nothing great. We got cheese burger it didn't have any sauce making it dry. Then the kids got donut dippers for dessert but the donuts were rock hard, not only that it had brown stuff inside the donuts. Why does this happen when catered for children. Overall I didn't have a pleasant enough experience for me to suggest this carvery. I personally wouldn't go here again. :(”

  “Myself and kids under 5s. Disappointed with everything. Pull pork fries, I thought it was a sharer for 2 people that I finished before the kids started 😮‍💨 one boy had 3 nuggets 1 small garlic bread🫠 that only got cooked one side corn was great 👍, other had chewy tomato pasta that he refused to eat smelled off-putting same half cooked garlic bread fruit shoots and a Guinness, so pretty much £32 quid for good Guinness and corn, kids wanted dessert but decided to go McDonald’s to feed them first. Thought it would be nice for a treat after school dinner but I know for next time.”

  “We visited this place for the first time, and our experience was okay-ish. The food came out quite fast after we ordered it. Everything was good. We ordered a cowboy beef burger. The burger tasted good. The meat was nice and juicy; also, we ordered curry and some kids' chicken nuggets. Onion rings were nice, real onion inside. The longer we spent time in this pub, the more service went downhill. After we finished our food, we ordered more drinks and some dessert with ice cream. After 30 minutes of waiting, we went there and asked about it. The dessert finally came, but the cream on our cake was melted, and the ice cream looked like a milkshake. All the desserts looked like they had been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes. Not sure if we would visit this place again. Kind of sad because this pub is very cute and nice inside. Can't put my head around how service can be good from the start but get worse over time.”
