About The Cricketers of Redbourn
The Cricketers of Redbourn is a pub on East Common in St Albans, with heated dining pods for meals. Each pod comes with a heater, a Bluetooth speaker and extension leads, and the pods have hosted a Christmas Day meal. The menu includes fish and chips and pork belly bites, and Guinness is part of the bar's beer line-up. A private dining room gives larger groups a space of their own. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the outdoor pods, describing them as lovely, cozy and comfortably warm, and one group spent Christmas Day in one. Food comes close behind. Fish and chips are praised for golden beer batter and perfectly cooked chips, and pork belly bites, a cheeseburger, Cumberland sausages and ham and eggs are also called delicious, with generous portions. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and one birthday party that arrived nearly an hour late was not rushed. The complaints centre on pace and detail. One reviewer waited over 30 minutes for after meal coffees because a single waitress covered both the dining room and the outdoor seating. Another had to ask four times for lemonade, received a meat trio with only two meats, and found the sticky toffee pudding was not sticky. One regular is unhappy that Moretti and San Miguel were replaced by Hawkstone, though the Guinness still earns praise. In one case, a soup was swapped immediately and without fuss.

“Went for lunch today with my wife and teenager daughter. We've not been here before but we weren't disappointed, the food was outstanding properly one of the best pub meals we've ever had. I had the fish and chips, the wife had the cheeseburger, and my daughter had Cumberland sausages, I know all basic food but oh my god it was far from basic the standard was excellent. Great service, nice atmosphere. Will go back again.”

“Went today for a birthday meal , table of 7 and family was coming from Surrey , rugby and Desborough , traffic was terrible we was nearly an hour late . We called to tell the staff who were absolutely fabulous , they didn’t rush us , the food was amazing and we had one small issue with the soup which they changed immediately without bother . Our waitress was lovely and very attentive . We meet every year and this is a wonderful location !”

“We booked early, and are glad we did, excellent food and amazing service. However, our post food coffees took over 30 minutes to be served, because the poor waitress was working on her own, and the dining room and outdoor seating areas were being serviced just by her. That was the only downside, as the food was excellent, if a little limited in choice, and a little expensive for what was served”

“Positives: Always a lovely pub, great staff, great food and outstanding Guinness. The best in the area Negatives - the line up of beers/ lager have really gone down hill (getting rid of Morretti & Miguel), where I'm considering going somewhere else unfortunately as a local Used to come here often when the larger line-up was better. Getting rid of Morretti and San Miguel is a crime to replace it with Hawkstone. I will only be coming here for Guinness now.”

“What we thought was an unassuming village pub turned out to be one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. We enjoyed outdoor dining opting to sit in the pods. It was a lovely relaxed lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. You could really taste the quality and the portion sizes were generous. The pork belly bites were to die for and the mains were both incredible! thank you to all the staff and chef we cannot wait to make a trip back!”
