About Fox and Goose Fressingfield
Fox and Goose Fressingfield is a gastropub on Church St in Diss, set in a listed building with a duck pond beside it. Modern European cooking is served in an upstairs dining room, while the bar has exposed beams, a wine list and a cocktail selection. The kitchen runs a tasting menu of six or seven courses alongside a table d'hôte menu, and it keeps a seasonal menu with a separate lunchtime menu. Beef mains come with roast or fondant potatoes, and a Sunday roast is on the menu. Reservations are required. A private dining room suits groups, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the tasting menu, with reviewers describing six and seven courses and picking out the sea bream main and the coconut mousse dessert. Close behind is the fillet of beef, praised alongside fondant potatoes and a standout roast potato, while the hazelnut tart with its caramelised top draws its own mention. The Sunday roast and fish and chips also come up, and reviewers praise the wine list and cocktails. Service is described as friendly and welcoming, and a few mention a family party given its own room and drinks outside by the duck pond. The one recurring caveat is that the place fills quickly, with reviewers noting a full house on a Tuesday lunchtime and suggesting booking ahead. One adds that the chef's playful flavour combinations can challenge, that staff were brief in describing courses, and that the toilets are up winding stairs in the listed building. One birthday lunch ended with a lit candle set in the cheeseboard.

“It was my first time eating at the Fox and Goose and I chose to eat here due to the really good online reviews. The pub itself is very quirky, with a relaxed atmosphere. The service itself was very good, I was seated and was given a drink in no time at all. I went for a main of the fillet of beef. Before the meal I was bought to me I was given a nice bread roll that was warm with butter. That went down nicely. The mains was served up to me very quickly considering how busy the pub was. The beef itself was amazing, cooked perfectly how I like it and the carrots and fondant potatoes were super tasty. The dessert of hazelnut tart was exceptional, hot, sweet with that lovely crunchy caramelised top that sticks in your mouth. I'll definitely be having that again.”

“Went there for a birthday lunch. Had drinks outside before we sat down for our meal. The staff were brilliant and really friendly. The food was excellent. Had table for four and all were really happy with their meals and desert . I had chessboard and had a lit candle in my cheese which was a lovely touch. Highly recommended. Something special.”

“A fantastic welcome from Liz and her colleague who managed to fit us in on a very busy lunch service. The food was excellent and the wine list was good value with some great choices to be had. We sat outside next to the duck pond and had a great time and enjoyed our chats. Thank you all xx”

“Another lovely meal at the Fox and Goose. The seasonal menu is imaginative and the food is perfectly cooked and presented using quality ingredients. The lunchtime menu is exceptional value and the service is equally as good as the food. I would highly recommend a visit.”
