About Thatchers Needle
Thatchers Needle is a pub at 33 Park Rd in Diss, serving cask ales alongside a food menu of pub dishes. The kitchen makes pies, including a chicken, ham and leek pie served with mash, gravy and vegetables, and lists crispy cauliflower wings and halloumi among the starters. A curry is on the menu too, and a Sunday roast is offered. A two-course set menu gives diners another way to order. Dogs are welcome inside, so owners can bring them along, and the drinks list includes liquor coffees. The pub takes walk-ins without a booking, even when it is busy.

Customer Review Summary
The caveat is slow, uneven service. One reviewer waited almost an hour for mains in a nearly empty pub and had to remind staff about the order. Another describes long delays, forgotten desserts and an undercooked pork mixed grill, plus small tables with no leg room. A third was disappointed that the liquor coffees came like a latte instead of black coffee with thick cream, though a discount was applied to the bill. One family who had a poor first visit were invited back by the team and found the food exceptional the second time.

“We didn’t book, just a spur of the moment decision to stop and grab some food. Restaurant was quite busy but we were given a table without any fuss. Staff were very friendly and service was great, only a short wait for food considering how busy they were. Food was very tasty and well presented, overall a great experience.”

“Since our recent visit which left us dissapointed, Ali and the team were keen to rectify our experience and invited us back to ensure last time was a complete one off We can safely say that this time around the food was exceptional. The curry was fresh, tasted amazing and very filling. The kids meals were again very good, and the desserts were also fantastic Ali and the staff are so friendly and made everyone feel welcome even our puppy spaniel, this has most definitely restored our confidence and we will most certainly be coming back to try the Sunday roast again in the near future”
