Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the generous portions across a large menu, with the home made chips, beer battered mushrooms with garlic sauce, steak and kidney pie, and fish and chips named repeatedly. Close behind are the friendly staff, and the Suffolk pork belly, roast pork, scampi and seafood salad also get specific mentions. Several describe a lovely garden and a good choice of drinks, and one notes high chairs and a children's play garden. A few reviewers say it gets busy on Sundays, and one suggests booking a table. The recurring complaints are small: one finds a pint of Pepsi Max pricey, and another found the strawberry trifle served in a jam jar rather than a tumbler. One diner had a poor evening, with a single member of staff serving the room, chips ordered twice that never arrived, and a Turkish kebab, chicken and rice, king prawns and tagliatelle that all tasted of curry. Another table was shown to a quiet corner and finished with pots of tea outside.

“We have visited for the first time this evening and we will definitely be going back. Welcoming staff, plenty of menu choices no matter what your taste, delicious food served piping hot and good sized portions. Well worth a visit.”

“Had a meal here today for my wife's birthday (a Thursday lunchtime). Food was perfect, we had Suffolk pork belly, chicken curry and fish and chips. Portion sizes were ideal for us, plenty but not excessive. Staff were very friendly and polite. Will definitely be back.”

“We live about an hour away and have friends who live the opposite side of Norfolk a similar distance from the Hart, we meet up 3 / 4 times a year. Come sun or rain your surely welcome with a smile. We met our friends yesterday for lunch, shown to our table in a quiet corner. Two of us had the roast pork, scampi 12 pieces chips peas, haddock chips peas, all cooked to perfection, excellent value. The deserts to die for, (except for the real strawberry trifle presented in a hexagonal jam jar, not ideal, should have been in tumbler same as other deserts) then sat outside with pots of tea. Great place to meet & eat.”

“We have been here before,a few times and always been happy but last night was dire. Its a really beautiful pub with inside and outside dining. There was only 1 member of staff that we could see, serving quite a few people, because of this,we asked twice for our chips..they never arrived. The food was awful! I ordered a Turkish kebab, what I was served was definitely not that. The rice was yellow and had cloves a cardamom pods in it and the rice and chicken had a distinct curry flavour as did my friend's spicy king prawns and tagliatelle. An Italian dish,it was served in a curry sauce! We definitely won't be back there,over£70 down the drain!”
  • Bill Kemp
“Lovely clean rustic pub. Gets busy on a Sunday but it's because it's popular. Fair amount of space in the carpark out back. Great choice of food and they do a Sunday roast (that's not on the menu). Children and dog friendly.”
