About Heavenly Desserts Derby
On London Rd in Derby, beside the Derbion Mall, Heavenly Desserts Derby is a dessert restaurant that opens daily and stays open after midnight. That makes it a late-night stop for people leaving films at Showcase. The menu centres on desserts, with a large spread to choose from. The Kinder Bueno Signature Dessert is the named plate, and the monkey bread arrives with caramelised apple. A passion fruit mojito is on the drinks list for anyone who wants something to sip alongside.

Customer Review Summary
Desserts draw the praise here, led by the Kinder Bueno Signature Dessert, described as rich, creamy and full of flavour. Close behind is the monkey bread, soft and gooey with caramelised apple, which one diner paired with a passion fruit mojito. Others name chocolate fudge, a Belgian waffle with strawberries in good-sized portions, and duo macaroons with an iced pistachio latte that were not too sweet. One group stopped by just after midnight following a film and was glad to find a dessert place open. Several reviewers single out individual servers as welcoming and friendly, including one who handled a party of around 20 and served the right people. One reviewer suggests checking the menu beforehand, since the spread is large and choosing can take a while. Service also draws the complaints. One diner reports sitting outside while a manager declined to come to the table yet took orders from others. Another describes a forgotten side of smashed avocado that was offered only after the eggs were finished, with no check-back and no gesture of goodwill.

“Food was good, but waitress (manager) refused to come to the table to take the order whilst sitting in the outdoor seating area. But they were happy to take orders from others, which is confusing and rude. Ordered the Duo Macaroons and Ice Pistachio Late and Ice Cafe Late. All good and not too sweet.”

“I visited today to treat my daughter to something sweet. She ordered the blueberry and vanilla cream pancakes with lemonade, and I ordered poached eggs on sourdough with a cappuccino and a side of smashed avocado. The food itself was nice. My daughter enjoyed the pancakes, although the cream topping was quite limited and wasn’t really enough for all of the pancakes provided. Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. When my poached eggs arrived, the smashed avocado I had ordered as a side was missing. I waited briefly, thinking it may have been coming separately, but it never arrived. I then had to call the waiter over and ask where it was. He didn’t really acknowledge me, just walked away towards the counter, and I heard nothing further. At the same time, I also asked for some pepper for my eggs. That never arrived either. Nearly 10 minutes later, the smashed avocado was brought over by the lady behind the counter, but by that point I had already finished my eggs and sourdough. I explained this and turned it down. She apologised, but said there had been lots of other orders and that I had ordered it separately afterwards. I explained that I hadn’t, and that I had ordered it at the same time as my meal. The apology didn’t feel particularly sincere, and she walked away while still speaking. No one checked back at the table to ask if everything was okay. When the waiter later came to clear the plates, I explained that the smashed avocado had been forgotten. His response was that it didn’t come with the poached eggs on sourdough. I said I knew that, and that I had ordered it as an extra side. As I was explaining this, he started walking away and said, “I don’t remember that, sorry.” When I asked for the bill, I was not shown one. I was simply asked whether I was paying by cash or card, then brought the card machine with the total amount. I had to ask to see the bill because I wanted to check whether I had been charged for the avocado. I was told to pay first and that I would get the receipt afterwards. Mistakes happen, and I don’t believe the issue was the food. The issue was the lack of communication, lack of care, and the way the situation was handled once the mistake was raised. There was no proper check-back, no meaningful apology, and no gesture of goodwill. The food was enjoyable, which makes the experience more disappointing. Sadly, the poor service spoiled the visit, and based on this experience, I would not return.”
