Customer Review Summary

Breakfast is what most reviewers return for, with diners describing piping hot cooked plates, a regular and a larger breakfast, and food served quickly in a spacious, clean, bright room. Coffee comes up close behind, including a pistachio latte and a cup of tea, alongside cheese burgers and chips. Several praise friendly, kind staff, and one says a server brought a bowl of chips on the house. Smaller gripes include a plate too small for the food on it and having to chase up coffees, and one reviewer notes the cafe has only one toilet. A cluster of negative reviews is sharply different. Three describe a waitress with snot running down her nose, one says a staff member called a friend a Karen, and one reports seeing a dead rat in the corner and calls the staff rude. One of these also says a server denied taking a table number that later turned up on the counter.

“Visited today with my boyfriend and grandma. Lovely service, the man serving was very kind and attentive, and even gave us a bowl of chips on the house! The chips were very nice and so were the cheese burgers and coffees. Will definitely Be returning. Thank you.”

“Lovely breakfast, polite, clean and piping hot food! Very good. I had a regular breakfast and my husband had a larger one. Very decent cafe food for the money. Very spacious place, so plenty of space to have a quiet conversation, or sit closer to other customers. I would have scored five but the plate was very small for the food on it, and made it difficult to cut food without spilling on the table, and we had to chase up our coffees - other than those two very small observations, it was great and we will definitely use Café Central again. Great location.”

“Great cafe with an absolutely fantastic team of loyal staff who do what they do with consistent excellence. I've worked in the city centre for 20+ years and haven't been anywhere else for breakfast since I found this gem. Food is lovely, served quickly and reasonably priced. Venue is spacious, comfortable, clean, bright and well decorated. The owner and staff are all so friendly, and very efficient even when it it gets busy.”
