About RASK Derby
RASK Derby is a cafe at Sadler Bridge Studios, open daily for daytime service on a walk-in basis. The counter serves corn fritters with bacon, poached eggs and avocado, alongside homemade beans on sourdough toast with roasted tomatoes and avocado. Banana pancakes come with fresh fruit, peanut butter, maple syrup and chocolate chips, and the cake selection runs from cappuccino cake to a vegan gluten-free brownie. Alongside the usual Americano and cappuccino, mushroom coffee is on the drinks list. The entrance and seating are step-free and wheelchair accessible, making the space workable for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are available for families with young children. Dogs are welcome inside, and outdoor seating gives an option for eating in the open air. The cafe sits across from Derby Museum & Art Gallery, near Bold Lane car park.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the baked goods, from a vegan and gluten-free brownie and a white chocolate and hazelnut blondie to a moist cappuccino cake and a freshly baked lemon meringue cake. One reviewer contrasts these with the plasticky, bulk-bought pastries at many cafes. Close behind are the savoury plates: homemade beans on toast, which one diner usually dislikes but found delicious, another version on sourdough with roasted tomatoes and avocado, corn fritters with bacon, poached eggs and avocado, and a light quiche with potato salad and coleslaw. Banana pancakes with fresh fruit and peanut butter also earn praise. Coffee draws steady approval, with Americanos and a mushroom coffee named, and several mention friendly staff, a clean, light and airy room, and drinks enjoyed outside on a hot day. One reviewer calls the menu limited but tasty. A diner who got a small cookie with an Americano suggests those cookies be sold to take away.

“Lovely cafe in the heart of Derby. Staff are very friendly and food is scrumptious. We had 3 bean beans on sourdough toast with roasted tomatoes and avocado. We also had a delicious brownie and smoothie.”

“Had a very nice break this morning after a quick tour of the Derby Museum. This lovely café offers a great variety of pastries, and I chose the vegan and gluten-free brownie, which was absolutely delicious, along with an Americano — both served with a smile. We enjoyed our drinks outside in the shade on what was a very hot day, though the indoor seating looked equally welcoming and comfortable. I’ll definitely come back for lunch next time. Highly recommended!”

“Love this Scandi style coffee shop! Really friendly staff too. Highly recommend for artisan coffee and food. Great vegan options as well!”

“This place gets my second 5-star review of my current road trip. Situated in nice modern building, the restaurant part is light, airy and very clean. Service was quick and pleasant and the food, from a balanced and not over long menu was simply excellent. Park in the nearby Parksafe (Bold Lane) which is possibly the best car park you've ever been to and it's just a short walk. RASK does breakfast, brunch and lunch and closes at 3pm weekdays, 2pm Saturday.”

“Lovely visit to RASK in Derby. I was looking for a brunch spot after a yoga class and found this place which had lots of lovely healthy options, and cake if I wanted something less healthy 😉 I had the homemade beans on toast, which I usually don’t find enjoyable, but they were delicious. Very accommodating of my dietary needs, as I can eat milk, and was very pleasantly surprised to see a mushroom coffee on the menu! I love a shoorm coffee, and it tasted delicious. Great service and lovely venue.”
