About Mount Pleasant Inn

Mount Pleasant Inn is a Georgian-style pub on Mount Pleasant Rd in Dawlish, with its own bowling alley on the premises. The kitchen serves breakfast, and the menu lists a mushroom and leek pie alongside a pie and pint deal. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own, and dogs are welcome in the pub. The inn also hosts a quiz night.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the window seats and sea views, which several say make the meal, alongside generous plates of Sunday carvery and pub dinners. The beef carvery is singled out as melting in the mouth, with a standout cauliflower cheese, and the mushroom and leek pie is called packed with ingredients. Close behind, diners describe friendly, welcoming staff, and one praises the Monday quiz and the pie and pint deal. The carvery draws mixed notes, though: one reviewer found the food not very warm, and another noted slow menus and drinks at dinner. The sharpest complaint came from a group whose dessert order was met with a closed kitchen after the main course, with no warning, until a bartender offered to prepare sweets. By then they paid and left, skipping the further drinks they had planned.

“Nice location with wonderful views over Dawlish Warren. Booked a table here for a Sunday lunch carvery because they are dog friendly and good value for the money. Was a little bit disappointed with the carvery, mainly because the food wasn't very warm.”

“We had a lovely evening at the Mount Pleasant Inn in Dawlish Warren, where we stopped for dinner during our visit. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive, which really added to the experience. The food was really nice too — fresh, tasty and very enjoyable. We were lucky enough to have a window seat overlooking the sea, which made the evening even more special. There’s something lovely about enjoying a good meal while looking out across the coastline. A beautiful setting, lovely food and friendly service — we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return. 🌊🍽️😊”

“We've stopped in the Mount Pleasant a couple of times now during our stay in Dawlish Warren. Every time we've received a warm welcome and great banter with the staff. Decided to have dinner as it smelt delicious and we are really pleased we did. Lovely food, good drinks and a lovely view.”

“The Mount Pleasant Inn delivered a truly lovely Sunday carvery experience that, while not entirely flawless, left us thoroughly satisfied. And has an absolutely stunning view of the sea out the window The Meats: You get three different meat options to choose from, with the freedom to pick any two. The beef was a standout highlight—it literally melted in your mouth. The Sides & Veg: The carrots were cooked to a lovely, soft texture. The cauliflower cheese was absolutely stunning; while the cauliflower still had a bit of a crunch to it, I actually quite liked it that way, and the cheese sauce itself was absolute perfection. The Service: We were looked after by a genuinely lovely lady who made the whole experience even better. Toilets: only two toilets and hand dryer does not work very well but was very clean It might not have been entirely perfect in every single minor detail, but it was still a beautiful carvery that we would happily return for.”
