About The Tudor Rose

The Tudor Rose is a modern European restaurant in Coulsdon, at 270 Coulsdon Rd, and it opens daily. The garden setting comes with a menu of pub dishes, including burgers, fish and chips, and a Sunday roast with roast chicken and Yorkshire puddings. Sharing platters and three-course meals sit alongside those dishes, so the kitchen covers both a shared spread and a full sit-down meal. A cocktail list runs with the food, and any hot drink or cocktail comes with a mini dessert. Waiting staff provide table service.

Customer Review Summary

Burgers draw the most mentions, with reviewers praising a burger and mocha, a group's burgers and pizza, and one diner who recommends the dirty burger. Close behind are the steak and starters: a ribeye with beef dripping sauce described as cooked perfectly, salt and pepper squid, and a chocolate bomb dessert. Staff earn repeated warmth, with several servers described as welcoming and attentive even when the restaurant was extremely busy. Cocktails and a mini dessert paired with a hot drink or cocktail also get praise. The main complaints are about slow or uneven delivery. One lunch party waited well past the point when later arrivals had finished, received three different explanations, and ended up with a dry, overcooked burger and a dirty teacup. Another reviewer found the waitress kept prompting for more drinks, desserts and the bill during a Sunday roast. Smaller notes include salty scallops, a watery gravy, only four potatoes with a roast chicken, and undercooked onion rings. A manager reaching out after a bad visit led one reviewer to return and find the steak and squid excellent.

“Went back to this place , after 30 years away , just to see how things change , with my incredibly grumpy ( fussy father ) and high demand autistic brother , and although the interior was lovely , i wasnt expecting much !! However we were so surprised by how friendly and accommodating our waitress Elle was , very friendly very professional, but shock upon shock , the food was great , piping hot generous portions and very very tasty / well cooked !!! we all left happy , which is very rare for my father , and look forward to going back again !! Well done guys , well done chef , well done Elle Surprisingly great !!!”

“A lovely place, beautifully laid out with thoughtful seating throughout. The food was delicious, with a well-considered and varied menu offering something for everyone. The table service was excellent, particularly from Ellie, who made us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning.”

“We came in as a group of 5 last month and had a great time. Between all of us, we got 4 burgers and 1 pizza, which was plenty of food for the group. Our waiter Callum was extremely welcoming and friendly, making our experience all the more memorable. As well as this, the wider restaurant staff were attentive and helped out with any other minor issues we may have had. Thank you so much to the team, we had a great time and would love to come back. The staff seemed like the type of team you would love to be part of, which lead to us having an enjoyable night.”

“Went for the mother's day set menu. Although had run out off quite a few dishes as it was later in the night staff very friendly and service quick. Food tasted nice, would definitely recommend the dirty burger.”

“Had a lovely experience as a party of 6. We were warmly welcomed by staff members Abi and Beth, they were very attentive throughout our time there. Everyone’s food was really nice - no complaints at all. The cocktails were really good! I loved the mini dessert which included a hot drink or cocktail for a good price. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming team. The staffs level of service makes all the difference. :)”
