Customer Review Summary
Reviewers split on the food. The roasts draw the sharpest complaints: mushy vegetables, frozen-tasting roast potatoes and too little gravy for the nut roast. One diner found the steak and ale pie's gravy thin and the crust burnt. Others praise the Sunday dinner, large portions, friendly staff and the canal-side location, and one notes a lamb shank and gammon pleased the table.

“A lovely local pub, been two weeks running and there was some inconsistency in the food, nothing major, and the staff handled it really well. The service is excellent, and it has a beautiful atmosphere.”

“Service is very good. We enjoy going for a drink in the well furbished pub & the beer garden is good. Not had a meal at The Railway for a while so thought we would. The main courses were less than desirable. Curry was dry, clumpy rice and could be a lot better. Steak, one third fat but cooked as requested. Chips were not crisp, peas were overcooked & tasteless, salad good. Mushroom & tomato not cooked properly. No onion rings. Dessert was really enjoyable.”
