Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the gyros, with the mixed gyros and the lamb souvlaki named as standouts, served in portions several describe as huge or generous. Close behind are the dip platter, the halloumi, the smoked sausage and homemade beef patties, and the chips, which one diner calls the best fries they have had in the UK. The baklava draws praise too, with one noting it arrives cold. Many describe the meat as tender and juicy, and one says the recipes are passed down from parents. Staff come up repeatedly as friendly and helpful, with one reviewer crediting a waitress who knew Greek cuisine well and made the coffee. The main trade-off is space: the restaurant is small and busy in the evenings, so one reviewer recommends booking ahead and another wishes for a bigger place, though a diner without a booking was seated straight away on a Saturday. Families mention birthday meals here, including one fussy young eater who loved everything.

“We have been to Meat the Greeks a couple of times recently, and can confidently say that it is one of the best restaurants in Cheltenham!! To start, the food is exceptional. Extremely tasty with a great variety of flavours. The dip platter is outstanding and meat dishes are extremely good. Food is also great value, with strong portion sizes. However the highlight is the service. We have been served both times by a younger blonde girl (sorry we can’t remember your name!) who was extremely friendly and helpful. Really made the experience that extra bit more special. Would highly recommend checking out if you are in the area.”

“Delicious food with good size portions and lots of vegetarian options. Lovely and friendly atmosphere, food was really high quality! Very tender and juicy meat. The halloumi was well cooked, seasoned and was well portioned. Definitely not disappointed with the large portions. Chips were also well seasoned and a great addition to the meals. Well done Greeks!”

“After a lot of debating, we decided to eat here and boy are we happy we did. Our schedule for the day got messed up completely so we ate nothing between 7.30 and our meal here at 5.30 so we were starving. We both got the lamb souvlaki and it was a feast (we also shared a greek salad as a side)! The chefs looked about 15 years old, but man could they cook! Best fries I've ever had in the UK. Tender lamb, perfectly grilled. Also, the waitress was above and beyond - such a sweet and helpful person. Greek food doesn't always feel like the most exciting option, it's simple and basic, but this time it was such a wonderful meal!”

“My son's 18th birthday was here, and I chose to spend his birthday with him there, and I don't regret it! The service was wonderful. The lady was Polish... a fellow countrywoman, who turned out to be a charming woman with extensive knowledge of Greek cuisine, which was very helpful to us... she was also smiling and very cheerful, which adds to the charm of this restaurant. She makes the best coffee in the world... the food was wonderful, fresh and delicious, and we will definitely be back again... large portions, great music, and the desserts were amazing! We can't wait for our next visit.”

“Came here for my daughter’s birthday and the food was absolutely phenomenal! Would rate it higher if I could!! There were 5 of us and we all loved it and had such a great time here. My youngest is a fussy eater but I think he was the one that loved it the most and he couldn’t get over how good everything tasted! The atmosphere is relaxed and it’s a nice cosy restaurant. Especially for a small gathering like we had. Although there was a big group of people in there before us so they do accommodate larger groups. We would definitely come back as the food was just ridiculously good and full of flavour!”
