Quick info
About Corner Coffee
Corner Coffee is a speciality coffee shop at 13 High St in Cardiff, with a strict no-laptop rule. The small room has limited indoor seating, so it suits sitting over a drink rather than working. The drinks list includes a V60, and the breakfast menu has scrambled eggs on sourdough. Cakes and baked goods are also on offer, including a Biscoff Banana cake. The shop opens daily. Customers use their own cutlery and can pour complimentary still water for themselves. Bags of the shop's coffee are sold to take home.
Reviews
What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention flat white, mocha, matcha latte and scrambled eggs on sourdough.
What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention flat white, mocha, matcha latte and scrambled eggs on sourdough.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the coffee, with the flat white singled out for milk that holds its structure to the last sip, and the cappuccino, mocha, Americano and matcha latte also named as well made. Close behind is breakfast, where the scrambled eggs on sourdough with chilli flakes and basil oil, the avocado on toast and the Biscoff Banana cake get specific mention, though one reviewer finds the breakfast menu a bit limited. Staff are described as friendly, warm and helpful, including one who guided a customer choosing a V60. Bags of coffee to take home and free still water are noted as extras. The recurring caveat is space: several say laptops are not allowed, indoor seating is limited and squishy, and one points out there is only one toilet, which can be annoying when busy. One diner reports bread burnt too dry to bite and was left having to fetch their own cutlery. The sheltered arcade seating gets a mention as a spot to watch a rainy day pass by.

“Food was good, coffee was absolutely perfect. But the bread was burnt to crisp couldn’t even bite it. Had to leave the sides since it was so burnt and dry.(also, telling your customers that they are supposed to get their cutlery themselves is not a big ask. Is it?)”

“What a gem! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. The staff were friendly, warm and incredibly helpful - exactly the kind of service that makes a place truly special. The coffee was absolutely delicious - one of the best we had during our trip. And the fact that you can buy bags of their coffee to take home? A brilliant touch that we couldn't resist! They also offer a breakfast menu which is a great bonus - perfect way to start the day. This place left a wonderful impression on us and we will absolutely be coming back on our next visit to Cardiff. Highly recommended! ☕✨”

“Cozy cafe perfect for a dreary day. The cappuccino had lovely depth and a velvety micro-foam. Indoor seating is limited, but the sheltered arcade seating is ideal for sitting back and watching the world pass by, especially on a busy rainy day. Great little spot to slow down with a coffee and take in the atmosphere.”

“I've been coming here a lot over the last year or two, it's finally time i left a review. the staff are outstanding, really kind and informative and helped my partner out when he was unsure what coffee he wanted in his V60. the food is absolutely amazing, i come here all the time for breakfast. we love to bring our friends and family to come here and enjoy the drinks. the coffee is really good and it's one of the few places i trust to make my matcha, they use simple or brown sugar syrups and don't add loads to over sweeten it. the seating can be a bit squishy and it can be hard to study in here for long periods of time due to laptop rules and lack of charging ports, but that will never stop us dropping in. probably one of the best coffee shops in Cardiff, I can't recommend enough.”

“Very yummy breakfast, super nice staff Would highly recommend! Laptops aren’t allowed there ( pretty small place) but perfect for a lovely breakfast/brunch with your other half or friends Food came fairly quickly and it was tasteful. Something to keep in mind: Only one toilet so can be annoying if the place is super busy”
