Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast is the main draw, with several diners calling it the best they have tried in Cardiff, singling out the quality of the beef and the gratin as delicious, and one calling it phenomenal. One regular says the standard has never dropped and finds it reasonably priced. Staff come up next, described as friendly and lovely, with a few reviewers saying individual bar workers went above and beyond. Others mention a brilliant choice of beers, a fine cold ale at the bar, and a nice little beer garden out back. The criticism centres on value and service. One diner found two roasts and two pints of cider steep for a student pub, said the tables were so compact they could hardly fit their legs under them, and felt service came without a smile. Another describes a bartender on a busy night swearing about the queue and refusing the student price, only agreeing to apply it after the customer had already walked away from the drinks.

“I spoke to Dan, he served me after other two other people which is fair enough it was busy, but after the third person I politely interrupted and said I was before them. Instead of being polite and honest he decided to say “it's f..ing busy I can’t help it.” And then after I ordered he charged me normal price and I I said “sorry can I be a pain even more and ask for student” he said “no I’m not f..ing doing it anymore it’s too busy” so after I asked for student charge and he said no i said I don’t want the drinks anymore after he poured 1 of 2 i then said I know “(our mutual friend)” and he said “I’ll put it through as student” so I come back and he charged me the right price but then says “I can’t do anything when it’s this f..ing busy”. I wasn’t disrespectful or anything but I felt disrespected but his wording and attitude.”

“We went for the first time to have a Sunday roast and I tried few in Cardiff! This one is the best I tried, omg the quality of the beef and the gratin is absolutely delicious. Close to home and couldn’t believe that we never tried before. Lovely staff and atmosphere and garden in summer . Love it”

“Without doubt the Sunday lunch is the very best around. Cooked with great skill & invention. Dine here once every six weeks or so and the standard has never dropped. It is very reasonably priced and served by friendly staff, what’s not to like, excellent, would highly recommend..”

“Came to the flora for a Sunday lunch. Food was really good and is worth a try however £60 for two roasts and two pints of cider is quite steep especially for a student based pub. The tables were very compact trying to squeeze as many people in as possible to the point you could hardly get your legs under the table. Service was okay. Did check food was okay, but no service with a smile here at all. Could do with some work. The younger girl was really nice I must say though.”
