About Pen & Wig
Pen & Wig is a pub on Park Grove in Cardiff, three minutes on foot from Queen Street. It has been included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for the last seven years. The bar rotates its real ales, sourcing them from local breweries along with a few from further afield, and also pours Guinness on the pint. The kitchen serves roast dinners, with extra roasties and Yorkshires brought to the table, and a lamb shank roast is on the menu. Vegetarian and vegan options include a vegetarian pie with mushrooms and spinach and butternut squash ravioli. Food is served at lunchtime and in the evening. Dogs are welcome, and a dedicated dog menu offers doggy meals.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the Sunday roast, with the roast dinner and the lamb shank roast both singled out, and one calling it better than most. Extra roasties and Yorkshires brought to the table unasked get a mention, though one reviewer found the lamb shank gravy needed more salt. Close behind are the vegetarian options, including a mushroom and spinach pie from a midweek pie and drink deal and a butternut squash ravioli, along with chunky fries and onion rings. Diners praise the ales, the Guinness and a cucumber spritz, and describe service as quick and friendly, with prices called reasonable for a city pub. Dogs are welcome, with their own menu, and a solo diner felt comfortable. The one clear complaint came from a lunch booker on 23rd December who was disappointed the Christmas menu, the reason for booking, was not available, though the ribeye and apple crumble still won praise. A regular of over ten years still returns on the first Saturday of each month.

“Oh I like this place! Plenty of space, good reasonably priced menu and a good choice of drinks. Dogs are not only welcome but they have a full range of doggy meals available, as well as their own menu. Large outside seating area. The toilets are located at the top of the building and I'm not sure if there's a disabled one on the downfloor.”

“What a stylish and cozy place that filled up pretty quickly after opening 💗 The lamb shank roast was tasty, although the gravy could use a bit more salt. Staff was friendly and food arrived fast!”
