About The Owain Glyndwr
The Owain Glyndwr is a pub on St John St in Cardiff, set in an 18th-century Ale House near the castle. Many TV screens show Welsh rugby, including the Six Nations, and the same screens carry football and other sport throughout the pub. Behind the bar, the beer range mixes cask and keg, with many pours from smaller Welsh craft producers, and cocktails are made to order there too. The kitchen works from a menu of 121 dishes, from Halloumi Salad and Beer-Battered Onion Rings to mac n cheese bites. The food menu is limited on event days. A door supervisor stands at the entrance.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for watching sport on the many big TV screens, with the Six Nations and football singled out, and they describe a lively, authentic Welsh pub atmosphere with friendly staff. One mentions a folk music club in the corner keeping the noise down, and another praises a beer range mixing cask and keg from smaller Welsh craft producers. Cocktails and a friendly bartender earn thanks, and a couple of reviewers call the food lovely or good. Food also draws the main complaints. One diner received only four mac n cheese bites and called them poor value, while another found sparse portions, uneven chip servings and a limited event day menu where some options had already run out by lunchtime. That same table waited a while for a missing meal to be sorted. Busy days bring long waits for drinks, and the toilets upstairs are described as quite a trek.

“When here with a mate last night and was served by a blonde and brunette girl.. They were both very helpful with giving us advice on where to go next and looked after our drinks when we went for a cig. Nice girls.”

“Good TV for watching sport. However, ordered the Mac n cheese bites at £8.50 and got 4 Mac n cheese bites! That's £2.12 a Mac n cheese bite. Would've got a better portion for that price at a theme park or an event. Absolutely not worth it. Very friendly staff though and nice atmosphere for watching sport especially with so many big TVs”

“I had a lovely time here today, even though it was hella busy. Wait time for drinks was a bit long but I can understand why as Mr. Worldwide was hereeeee!! Would love to say thanks to Ellie who brought us all the cocktails we inhaled today. Absolute star.”
