About The Shoal Hill Tavern
The Shoal Hill Tavern is a real-ale pub on Sandy Ln in Cannock, on the edge of Cannock Chase. Reading glasses can be borrowed from the bar, which helps with an extensive menu and the special dishes written up on boards. Sunday lunch includes a roast of the day with roast potatoes and gravy, and the regular menu lists pork belly and sticky toffee pudding. Veggie and coeliac requests are catered for in the kitchen. The pub is open daily, and staff show guests to a table when they arrive. A large car park sits beside the building, and flower displays decorate the outside.

Customer Review Summary
Sunday lunch is what diners return to most, with the roast potatoes and gravy called out as the standout, and the roast of the day, pork belly and a steak pie with tender meat also praised. Sticky toffee pudding is the dessert reviewers mention more than once. Close behind come generous portions and friendly, attentive staff, with one reviewer noting wings and salt and pepper chips from a two-meal offer, and another praising the Shoal Salad. Several describe the kitchen accommodating needs, from a vegetarian and a coeliac in one group to nuggets and beans for a fussy five-year-old. The one complaint is noise, as one reviewer found a busy Sunday left almost every table occupied and the room very noisy. Reviewers also mention the lawned seating beside the car park and the flower displays outside. One group recalls the staff keeping meals warm for a late-arriving diner, and another says the bar lent reading glasses to a guest whose own had just broken.

“Went on a busy Sunday for Sunday dinner. The service was quick and the food tasted good. I had the pork belly and couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was very busy with almost every table occupied which made it very noisy inside.”

“Fabulous steak pie and chips. Best pie we've had for a long time. Very tender meat. Pie served on the plate which we like rather than in a separate bowl! Friendly service . Will definitely be back”

“Beautiful food. Great service. One of our diners arrived late and they couldn't do enough to keep the food warm for us whilst we were waiting. Absolutely fantastic. Little things have all been thought of, can even borrow reading glasses from the bar (which proved really useful as my mom just broke hers!)”
