About the Java Coffee Club (Grantchester)
On High St, the Java Coffee Club is a cafe with seating outdoors only, sitting between Grantchester village and the meadows. Coffee is sold by the bean or ground for home use in cafetieres, and a decaffeinated version is available alongside the espresso menu. Cakes are on offer, with a wider range at weekends including a Bakewell blondie. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, making it a stop for those out walking. Drinks can be poured into travel cups or keep cups for anyone moving on rather than sitting down. There is no booking, service runs on a walk-in basis, and with just one barista working the counter, a queue can build quickly. The cafe opens Tuesday to Sunday during the day and stays closed on Mondays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the coffee itself, with the flat white, cappuccino, latte and mocha named repeatedly, and several call it the best in Cambridge. The oat flat white is described as smooth, and one reviewer says the beans are also sold for home use, with a decaffeinated option. Homemade cakes come close behind, with the Bakewell blondie singled out, and a few say the cakes and drinks are reasonably priced for Cambridge. The spot between Grantchester village and the meadows suits a coffee before a walk, and one reviewer mentions that dogs are welcome. The staff are called friendly and happy to chat, and one group booked the café for a coffee and cake pop up at their workshop. The one caveat comes from a reviewer who found a single barista working and a line forming quickly, so expect a wait, with only outdoor seating available. Another reviewer notes drinks can go into travel cups or keep cups.

“Charming coffee shop, situated at an ideal position between Grantchester village and the meadows. Perfect for grabbing a coffee before setting off into Grantchester meadows. The coffee is also reasonably priced for Cambridge, and they have brand new coffee making equipment.”

“Best Mocha in/around Cambridge! There are always a range of cakes, particularly at the weekend -and all are delicious. Annie is really friendly and good to have a little chat to. Cakes and drinks are reasonably priced, especially compared to other cafes in and around Cambridge. They're happy to pop drinks in travel cups/keep cups too :)”

“Based inside the distillery, absolutely delicious coffee. Ordered an oat flat white and it was so smooth. Only one barista who was very friendly, so expect to wait as a line formed very quickly! Only outdoor seating available. The sweet treats on offer were very tempting so will have to go back to try them sometime. Dogs welcome as well.”

“Gorgeous coffee, mother loves the cakes, especially the blonde,. Rob is lovely, always ready to listen or laugh, and goes the extra mile... Perfect spot if you're walking to Grantchester or just watching the world go by.”
