Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the lakeside setting, praising garden views over the water and décor described as beautifully thought out and interesting, with indoor air conditioning a relief on a hot day. Food draws a split. Praise goes to the burrata, the Camembert and croquettes starters, steak frites and ribeye cooked perfectly, and a chocolate orange dessert, and one reviewer notes gluten free and vegan options. Others are critical. Two Sunday roasts arrived with missing vegetables, soggy roast potatoes, pork belly that was not crispy and dry roast chicken, and a BBQ chicken burger came without sauce. Two reviewers say portions were small or the cooking poor for what was charged. One reviewer describes outside tables piled with glasses and plates and ants on the empty dishes, and another says drinks ordered with dessert arrived after the meal was finished. Servers are often called friendly or attentive. One group who hired the Baitbox room for a baby shower says staff let them decorate it beforehand.

“Food was unfortunately lamentable. At these prices, it really shouldn’t be this poor. We had two Sunday roasts. Some of our vegetables were missing. Roast potatoes were soggy and my pork belly was not crispy. My companion’s roast chicken was decidedly dry, alongside the issues I’ve mentioned. We also had a side order of pigs in blankets which were also disappointing. Puddings were perhaps slightly better but my sticky toffee pudding was nothing that any competent home cook couldn’t have turned out. Service was friendly if a little disorganised. Not somewhere I would make an effort to go to again.”

“Great spot for some food or drinks on a warm sunny day. The view out in the garden overlooking the lake is one of the best. There's reserved area and also an area where you walk in. The indoor interior is also impeccable. The food is your pub style grub. The burrata we had was top.”

“Food is ok, but it is out of the freezer into the fryer so can't really go to wrong. For me it's the lack of service and how dirty it is. There seems to be lots of staff, but not sure what they do. Outside empty tables are piled high with glasses and plates as people move them to be able to sit. As a result the place is untidy and the ants are all over the empty plates, glasses, tables really adding to the pleasure.”

“It’s great place for getting fresh coffee and fresh air but in term of food the portions are super small , despite high charges so need improvement on it . Overall great place for hangout”

“. Such a lovely pub and this was our first visit. It was a very hot day, so we decided to sit inside in the air conditioning rather than melt outside by the lake. The décor is beautifully thought out and there’s always something new to notice no matter how much you look around. It has a really lovely atmosphere. Food-wise, my BBQ chicken burger was a little disappointing. It was quite average and the plate looked incomplete when it arrived, especially as the burger had no sauce on it. The waitress did kindly bring some mayo. For £18.75, I think a small side salad or coleslaw would have made the meal feel much better presented and better value. Service was mostly good, but we ordered extra drinks with our dessert and they didn’t arrive until we’d finished eating and were almost ready to ask for the bill. We had to remind the waitress before they eventually arrived. Overall, still a lovely place with great décor and atmosphere, and we would visit again.”
