Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the beachfront setting, with full-length windows and an outdoor terrace looking across the bay, and the friendly staff who come with it. Food draws praise too: one describes a seafood chowder served with oatcakes, others mention fish and chips, paninis, a salad, and soups with a scone. Several say dogs are welcome at the outside tables, and one notes dog treats are available. One reviewer says the staff were helpful about dietary allergies, and another found it calm enough for children with Autism. Some caveats recur around the food. One calls the menu typical cafe food, fine but nothing special, while another found the fish greasy with a watery coating on a busy day. A different reviewer says the soups were not hot enough in cold weather. One also noted a staff member who seemed uninterested at a Saturday lunch. A few mention the place can get busy, though one was seated after a short wait.

“Love it here, love the food, service is great, on the beach, dog friendly at outside tables, had a seriously flavoursome salad last time I was there...attractive to look at, delicious.”

“We visited Sands a Place by the Sea during our trip and it was one of those places we'd happily return to. The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful sea views that make it easy to sit back and relax. The food was fresh, delicious and clearly prepared with care, and there was a great choice on the menu. What really made the experience, though, was the warm and friendly service. Everyone was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. A lovely spot for a leisurely meal or coffee by the coast, and somewhere we'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area”

“I’ve been here before - few times , always fish and chips never regretted but this time fish was very greasy and coating was fluffy and watery … service great , place as well , maybe because was super busy the fish wasn’t great :-(”

“Such friendly, helpful staff and an unbeatable location right by the beach with lovely outdoor areas to sit. They have a great variety of tasty, well-prepared meals, and it’s all very reasonably priced for the high standard you get. We’ll definitely be coming back.”

“Twice in a week, both times at the weekend. Sat outside with the dogs and ordered inside. Dog treats available. Very nice and professional staff, but there was the one lass who just didn't seem to be interested last Saturday lunch time. Hence 4 stars. Perfect location by the beach and the food is very good. Ill be back.”
