About Souk Kitchen
Souk Kitchen is a Middle Eastern restaurant at 277 North St in Bristol, serving market-style mezze in a cafe-restaurant decorated in bright colours. The menu draws on Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking and is built around shared plates, so a table of three or four can order a spread and pass dishes around. Halloumi and crispy panko chicken thigh sit among the plates. Vegetable and vegetarian dishes, including fried cauliflower, make up a large part of the list. A set lunch menu pairs a starter with mains, and groups can order the whole menu between them.

Customer Review Summary
Diners come for shared mezze plates, with the halloumi named most often, alongside fried cauliflower and the crispy panko chicken thigh. One group of three worked through the entire lunch menu, and another four shared eight plates with zatan flatbread and hummus. The pickles and homemade ice cream also earn praise, as do the wine selection and friendly, quick service. The main complaint is value. One reviewer counted seven plates, six vegetable and one chicken, and found the portions small for the cost, while another calls the food expensive but worth it for the quality and quantity. A few mention the room getting very loud once half the tables fill. Another found the open kitchen did not smell very nice, with no music, and did not like the desserts. One reviewer suggests ordering a variety of dishes to share, and always getting the pickles. One solo diner celebrating a birthday describes a server who went above and beyond without knowing the occasion until the end of the meal.

“It’s many years since I last went to Souk Kitchen and it’s good to see it has survived where many other eateries on North St have gone to the wall. Excellent, unusual selection of Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East mezze. We four people shared eight plates plus some Zatan flat bread and hummus: perfect. Service and food impeccable. The restaurant ambiance is very loud once half the tables fill up, perhaps something can be done with the interior to mute the mad volume.”

“A true taste sensation, fantastically priced Lunch Menu £20 pp , one starter, 2 mains... so as a group of 3 we had the delight of trying the entire lunch menu. Every dish is a journey of flavours and the staff friendly, atmosphere great and a restaurant I'd recommend to revisit!”

“Been here multiple times and it’s definitely one of my fav places in bristol. The variety of ingredients they used and the great wine selection. It’s sophisticated but not pretentious and also always balanced nutritions !”

“Had a phenomenal solo birthday meal at Souk Kitchen this evening. James went above and beyond to provide a stellar service and didn’t even know it was my birthday till I told him at the end. Food was to die for too but great service makes everything taste so much better :)”

“I have no idea why it took me so long to get over to Soukitchen, but I’m sad that I’ve missed out for so long. I have to go back and have the rest of the menu. I’m too deep into menopause to have the necessary adjectives. It was bloody bloody fantastic. Go, eat glorious food, drink marvellous drinks. Yum”
