About Star Fish Bar
Star Fish Bar is a fish and chips takeaway in Bristol, at 88 Bedminster Rd. The menu centres on fish and chips, with cod and haddock as the fish, and fish bites sit alongside them. Curry sauce is served with the fish and chips and with the specials, and kebabs are also sold. Payment can be made by card. A wait is common during busy periods, so orders are collected at the counter once they are ready.

Customer Review Summary
Chips draw the most praise, described as great, proper chippy chips in good-size portions that stay hot and unstuck after a drive home. Fish comes close behind, with one reviewer calling it delicious with a light, crispy batter and great curry sauce, and another saying a shared large cod and small chips defeated two people. Kebabs and fish bites also get a mention. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, and one reviewer found service quick despite a busy shop, though another suggests phoning orders in ahead because busy periods can mean a wait. The fish divides opinion. One reviewer found a shapeless lump with soggy batter and rubbery cod, and another got a greasy haddock whose second half was full of bones. A regular says the shutters have come down before closing time several times, and another was refused a separate pot of curry sauce with a special and will not return. Still, the chips arriving hot after the drive home recur in the praise.

“My husband went to the fish bar on 29th June to buy one haddock at £11.90..I was on a plane bound for Bristol and needed sustenance after dental procedures so I cannot comment on atmosphere etc. Suffice to say my husband paid £11.90 for a haddock.which was very greasy but far worse than that was the fact that the second half of the fish was riddled with bones. Would i return? Never”

“I normally go in for food at least 3/4 times a week & it is always in the evenings & everything from the atmosphere to the food has been great.... Until tonight, their food is always delicious & I was really looking forward to my "chippy tea", unfortunately as I was walking towards the chip shop the lights went out & the shutters were going down, even though there was still just under 10 minutes before they are meant close & sadly this has happened several times in the past to me & also a few of my friends who are also regular customers.”

“I had a great experience at this fish and chip shop. The fish was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked with a light, crispy batter and great curry sauce! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The service was impressively quick, considering they were very busy. Overall, a fantastic spot for fish and chips, will definitely be coming back!”

“Claims that this is the best fish & chip shop in Bristol are wide of the mark. The chips are very good, and portions are decent. However, the fish is a bit of a lump, shapeless with soggy batter. The cod tasted a bit rubbery too. However, the staff are friendly and cheerful, and it’s great they open a bit earlier at 16:30. Quality-wise though, this place can’t hold a candle to Fish n’ Fry in Easton.”
