About Caribbean Croft
Caribbean Croft is a Jamaican restaurant at 30 Stokes Croft in Bristol, serving Caribbean dishes alongside draft beer. The kitchen plates sea bass on a bed of callaloo with okra and green banana, and the bar pours a Ray & Nephew rum slush, so a fish main and a rum drink can share one table. Saltfish fritters arrive with a homemade hot pepper sauce. The bar also runs a happy hour on cocktails and mocktails.

Customer Review Summary
Goat curry is the dish reviewers return to most, described as rich, flavourful and seasoned to perfection, and one diner says it was among the best-cooked plates they have eaten. The sea bass served on callaloo with okra and green banana comes close behind, with reviewers calling it perfection and praising its texture and heat. Also named are jerk chicken, chicken wings, saltfish fritters with homemade hot pepper sauce, roti with prawns, and pork and coconut steak dishes. Drinkers single out the Ray & Nephew slush, the slushie, the mocktails and the happy hour cocktails. Mains are described as generous, and several praise friendly, quick staff. The caveats are small. Music can be loud enough to make it hard to hear others at the table, and one diner found the yard cake less fruity and rum flavoured than expected. One party, caught in a busy festival night, was moved to a quieter seat away from the crowds.

“We were introduced to this restaurant by my mum and partner who have been coming here for years and it met all our expectations! They had happy hour when we arrived and tried a couple mocktails which were yummy. We tried the roti and prawns to start then four different main dishes and each was delicious and not too spicy. The only downside was the yard cake which we were expecting to be more fruity and rum flavoured but we have never tried this before so it might have tasted exactly like it was meant to! The waitress who served us was lovely and the food came quickly!”

“We visited the Caribbean Croft last night, not realizing it was during the St. Paul’s Festival, so the area was incredibly busy with lots of people and loud music. From the moment we arrived, Jasmine made us feel so welcome. She went out of her way to seat us in a quieter spot away from the crowds, which made a huge difference to our evening. Jasmine was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our visit. She checked in on us regularly to make sure everything was okay without ever being intrusive, and her excellent customer service really stood out. Thank you so much, Jasmine. Your kindness and professionalism made our evening so much more enjoyable. Excellent service—we’ll definitely be back!”

“The sea bass with callaloo, green banana and okra was absolutely delicious. Every element of the dish worked perfectly together, delivering incredible flavour, just the right amount of heat, and plenty of texture. The sea bass was beautifully cooked, while the callaloo, green banana and okra created a rich, authentic accompaniment that elevated the whole dish. It was one of those meals where every bite was enjoyable. The saltfish fritters were a solid 7/10. They were still very good, well-seasoned and enjoyable, with the homemade hot pepper sauce served alongside them. Full of flavour with a lovely kick, it complemented the fritters perfectly. To drink, the Ray & Nephew slush was outstanding. Refreshing, flavourful and expertly balanced, it was the perfect addition to the meal. Overall, it was an amazing dining experience from start to finish. Fantastic food, great flavours throughout, and a real sense of care in every dish. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily return. First time visiting and will def be back !?”

“Four of us had dinner here last night. Absolutely scorching outside and we weren't sure we'd made the right choice having hot spicy food but it was all good. The staff were amazing, keeping us supplied with plenty of iced water and delicious cocktails and as always delicious tasty food.”
