About The Cadbury

The Cadbury is a pub in Bristol at 68 Richmond Rd, housed in a timber-framed building that is 300 years old. Inside, an open fire and a reggae soundtrack sit alongside pub games, and a walled garden belongs to the building. The kitchen serves Sunday roast with beef, pulled lamb or vegetarian choices, including a veggie pork, a wellington and vegan cauliflower cheese. Roasts come with trimmings such as parsnips, vegetables and gravy. A small bar pours beer on tap, with local beers and a limited ale selection. Dogs are welcome. The garden closes at 10pm because of the nearby residences.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers come overwhelmingly for the Sunday roast, with pulled lamb and roast beef both singled out, one diner praising the maple-glazed parsnips that seeped into the gravy. Close behind are the vegetarian and vegan roasts, including a veggie pork, a wellington and vegan cauliflower cheese, which one couple called the best they had ever had. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and the atmosphere as casual and chilled, with a good selection of local beers on tap. Dogs being welcome pleased one group.

“My fave Sunday roast in Bristol. Boyfriend had the meat which he said was delish. Three different vegetarian options, what a delight. And comes with all the interesting trimmings. Decent prices and managed to get outside tables easily. What a treat”

“Staff as polite as you could ask, atmosphere/clientele very pleasant, had the Sunday roast 2 or 3 times and I'd say it's in the 7-8/10 region, speaking as a Sunday roast snob! The beef is good quality and the mapley glazing on the parsnips was great, seeped into the gravy and just made for a delicious concoction of flavours. Potatoes a bit too tough on the outside but I've had worse. Only real reservation is every 3rd time I attend, my pint has been bad and I've had to take it back to the bar. Ale selection is limited being such a small bar so I suspect they get to the dregs quick, but the pipes could really do with a flushing out. Been to dozens of pubs in Bristol and not had that. I hate to dock them too much for it because it's such a nice place. Just room for improvement there. Oh, and don't go there if you're in a rowdy mood late at night as the garden closes at 10pm due to proximity to residences.”

“Nice pub as long as you're local it would seem. After ordering 2 pints & finding a seat by the bar we we're told that the seats were reserved for locals and we would have to move when they turned up. I was lead to believe Bristolians were an all inclusive, welcoming bunch. Shame. The barmaid let you down Bristol”

“Went here for a roast and it was hands down the best vegetarian roast my partner and I have ever had! The veggie pork was delicious as was the wellington. Each item on the plate (and it was a hearty portion!) was super tasty so compliments to the chef! The pub itself is cute and cosy and the staff very friendly. Will definitely visit when I'm in Bristol again 😋”

“This is one of our favourite local pubs and we visit whenever we can. The atmosphere is always great. The recent changes made to the outdoor area ahead really improved it. We had an amazing roast on Sunday - pulled lamb with an incredible texture and flavour, topped with a delicious gravy. The vegetables were all cooked so well, with their own taste and textures. Topping it off with a lovely bottle of Malbec made for a perfect Sunday afternoon!”
