About The New Inn Blagdon
The New Inn Blagdon is a pub on Park Ln in Bristol, with a garden that looks over Blagdon Lake and the valley. Inside, an open log fire and horse tack give the bar a traditional pub feel. Hand-pulled ales sit on the bar, including Butcombe Original. The hot food menu is short and centres on pies and lasagna, with no starters. The steak and ale pie and a vegetarian pie both come with mash and gravy. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pies, with the steak and ale pie named repeatedly for its crisp pastry and generous, tender filling, alongside a vegetarian pie and the pie and mash. Close behind are the Sunday beef roast, the veggie curry, chilli nachos, and a cheese platter with home-made chutney. The garden views over Blagdon Lake draw frequent praise, as do the friendly staff and a good choice of ales and wines. Several call it a proper village pub without the fuss of gastro-style places. The main caveat comes from one reviewer who found the menu limited, with no starters and hot food mostly pies or lasagna, and who thought the pie filling disappointing, with tiny pieces of steak hidden in sauce, though the chunky chips and pastry were good. One suggests booking ahead because it is popular. Another describes the chef coming out with a treat for the dogs as they left.

“Had Sunday lunch here and was really impressed by the quality and variety of tasty foods. Would highly recommend the steak and ale pie, the beef roast and the blagdon mess and toffee pudding for dessert. Great service too - be sure to make a reservation as it’s super popular!”

“Loved this - a proper pub with proper grub. Nice garden with great views over the valley and lake. Friendly, welcoming staff. Good beer. Pie and mash best I've had in a while. As we were leaving, Chef came out with a treat for the dogs, which went down really well. Everything you want in a pub. Highly recommended.”

“A proper village pub with a warm and welcoming feel. The food was lovely and really well done, without any of the unnecessary fuss or pretentiousness you can sometimes get with more gastro-style pubs. There was also a good selection of drinks with plenty to choose from. It felt relaxed and friendly while still offering really good quality food. Exactly what you want from a village pub, and somewhere I’d happily visit again when I’m in the area!”

“We had a great day yesterday, the views across Blagdon Lake and watching the red kites flying overhead whilst eating was brilliant. Our meals were fantastic. The veggie curry was so tasty and the young lady swapped in g.f. tortillas for me. Hubby loved his meat dish and said it was amazing. High praise from Mr. Fussy! We didn't have room for 🍦 though many around us were. Great location and top notch food leaving you to extend a notch on your belt afterwards!”

“Wonderful little country pub. We went for a walk around Blagdon lake then stopped for a Sunday beef roast which was delicious. All the veg was seasoned perfectly and the beef tender. Our waitor was very attentive and the views from the garden are stunning! We'll be back again!”
