About Colosseum
Colosseum is a bar in Bristol on Redcliff Hill, decorated with a reclaimed sports hall floor that gives the room its look. The kitchen runs a tapas-style menu, and dishes leave the pass as soon as they are cooked. Burgers and loaded dirty fries sit alongside chicken wings, and vegan guests can choose jackfruit wings or dirty fries made with a plant-based "cheese" and onion. At the bar, the team pours cocktails and a wider drinks selection, with a happy hour for drinks offers. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers draw the most mentions, with reviewers praising the burger and loaded fries as incredible and describing food that arrives quickly. Close behind is the tapas-leaning menu, where halloumi and veg skewers, chicken wings with a good spice kick, and vegan jackfruit wings and "cheese" and onion dirty fries earn praise as fresh, generous and reasonably priced. Drinkers mention the Jubel, knowledgeable bar staff on cocktails, and drink offers, and the outdoor seating area with a view of the church gets repeated appreciation. A few note it can get hot inside. The caveat is the burger itself, which is not consistent. One reviewer called it grisly, chewy and lacking flavour, with a small portion of standard frozen chips for a high price, saying quality had slipped since a decent earlier visit. Another with a severe dairy allergy received a burger with blue cheese dressing spilled on the bun, then waited for a full remake, and was refused a free replacement beer, with staff laughing at the request.

“Great bar with fantastic outdoor seating area. Although busy sometimes, they have great offers on drinks! Can get a bit hot inside sometimes. Hidden gem!”

“So I ordered a burger and explained my situation in terms of allergens being a severe dairy allergy They then served me a burger without cheese, but there was blue cheese dressing on the side with them spilled all over my burger bun. I then said just replace the burger bar but they said they’d fire the whole burger again and it took them 25 minutes towards the end of waiting. I went over to the bar and I said I’m not even really hungry anymore. Can you just do me another beer they poured the bed to charge me and I said oh I’m surprised that you’re charging me given the situation could you not For free and they said oh no we couldn’t and laughed at me which made me feel ridiculous despite the fact that you really do have to care about peoples allergies. I didn’t get taken seriously.”

“Really good vegan options. The jackfruit wings and "cheese" and onion dirty fries were both fantastic”

“Felt ripped off. Burger was grisly, chewy, and completely lacking flavour. Prices suggest quality, but the ingredients say otherwise. Fries were a small portion of standard frozen chips. The meal pictures was £17.50! Went a few months ago and it was decent, something’s clearly slipped. If you want a proper smash burger and dirty fries in Bristol, go to Danny’s or Guerilla. Both up there!”

“Had a meal there with my family where the burger was incredible, along with the loaded fries being a great addition. Food came quickly and service was great & personable, I recommend!”
