About Lost in the Lanes
Lost in the Lanes is a modern British café-bar-restaurant at 10 Nile St in Brighton, built around an open kitchen. It opens daily for breakfast, lunch, coffee and cakes, with Murmuration coffee poured through the day, and adds dinner from Thursday through Saturday. The seasonal menus use produce from local Sussex suppliers. Brunch includes Eggs Benedict and the Dirty Croque, and the Banofee Honey Toast covers the sweeter side. A full licence means wine, beer and cocktails are on offer alongside loose leaf and herbal teas. The tables are bronze sheet metal fixed with tac nails, and dogs are welcome. Walk-ins are seated without a booking.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the draw, with reviewers repeatedly singling out the full English and vegetarian or vegan versions, praised for smoky beans, crispy seasoned potatoes and sausage several call the best they have had. Close behind are the eggs benedict and eggs Royale, described as a work of art, along with the Dirty Croque, called silly big in a great way, and the Banofee Honey Toast. One reviewer calls the avo toast the best they have eaten, and the lime pistachio cake gets a must-try from another. Flat whites, a matcha lime tonic and green juice also earn mentions. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and several walk-ins without a booking say they were seated quickly, in one case after a short wait. Reviewers mention a lovely atmosphere, good music and dogs welcome. The only caveats are that the place is pricier than others, though one reviewer says it is worth it, and that there are not many outside tables. One reviewer, seated at a table outside in perfect weather, finished a breakfast served all on one slice of sourdough.

“The place was pretty full but we found a table outside and it was what we wanted because the weather was perfect. Not many tables outside though. We ordered their breakfast which comes like in the picture, all on one slice of sourdough bread and it was super delicious. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and nicely crispy, the sausage was actually the best sausage I ever had, perfectly poached eggs and tasty coffee. We can totally recommend it :)”

“I had my best ever cooked breakfast and green juice at Lost in the Lanes. We hadn't booked but were offered a large table as soon as we walked in by a polite and friendly waitress. The atmosphere and decoration is lovely and the food prepared with such attention to detail. If we didn't live in France I'd be eating here every weekend!”

“Lovely little cafe in the Lanes. Food was terrific. We had their take on a croque madam and a twist on the full English. Both were excellent as were the flat whites. Buzzing spot, warm service and good music. Great spot.”

“From the moment we walked in, the service was amazing. The vegetarian breakfast was delicious, and the extra smoky beans were so good! The lime pistachio cake is definitely a must-try. Tabi, who served us, was amazing very kind, professional, and attentive. Everything was perfect. Thank you to the whole team! We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place.”
