  “This roast truly knocked my socks off. The beef was so tender, so juicy, the potatoes were soft but oh so crunchy on the outside. The roasted carrots had such a complex and developed flavour profile I almost mistook them for a fine aged European cheese. I kept digging through this roast and finding more and more to delight upon, leeks, red cabbage etc etc. ordered a side of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets - I couldn’t even call them sides they were nearly a whole portion. And the true star of the show for me… the gravy, it was sumptuous and I didn’t even have to ask for extra. The staff and the atmosphere were the cherry on top; friendly and welcoming - I couldn’t have asked for more. Well done the geese, we will be back xxx”

  “Top quality sausage and mash here. Excellently situated in Hanover. Its got a lovely buzz to the pub and area around it. We went on a Friday afternoon and there were some locals getting post work bevs and a load of people sat out front chatting away. Staff were friendly on arrival. You've got the big old blackboard to pick your choices between sausages, mashes and gravies and the staff can provide menus. I love that there's a selection of each component and it entices you to come back to mix and match. We had a mix but I had the wild boar, bone marrow mash and guiness reduction gravy. That combo was decadent and took me on a sausage and mash pilgrimage - I felt like I went on a real journey. We had the cooked greens as a side to share which was also really tasty. Absolutely loved it and will be back to try another combination.”

  “Came here today with a friend and had a roast. The staff were very nice & friendly. The food lacked flavour, but it filled a hole. The ingredients could do with upgrading in some areas.”

  “The best Pork Belly I have ever had. Fabulous. I've been very fortunate to eat in the high tier restaurants and top gastro pubs and The Geese's Pork Belly beats them all. Very friendly staff and excellent Stout, Red Labeled Guinness (if you know you know) aa well as Beamish...........Book!”

  “The Geese is a very good and authentic place in Brighton. I tried there the Bangers and Mash(Cumberland, Mustard and Dill Mash and proper meat gravy) and I loved it. In my opinion “The Geese” really has the best Bangers and Mash in Brighton. The gravy is great. Yesterday I tried the Sunday Roast there (with Chicken) and I enjoyed this as well. The portions are very good. I would recommend “The Geese” to anyone, who enjoys British food and who wants to eat in an authentic and friendly pub.”

  “Absolutely bangin' bangers and mash - I'm not one to over-exaggerate, and I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but this was the best sausage and mash I've ever had and thought it deserved the recognition. I had the Wild Boar Sausages, with Bone Marrow Mash and the Bourbon & Maple Gravy (so good it needed capitalisation); the dish had me weeping with joy. Whether you're a smart fella or a fart smella, you'll love the food here.”

  “Fabulous. Went by myself and didn’t feel 100% weird. Maybe 87% weird but that’s on me. Highly recommend. Excellent service and great atmosphere.”

  “As visitors from the US we always look forward to enjoying a Sunday Roast when in England (last time was in Carlisle.) The roast was delicious, tender, and full of great veggies. I love cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and although I wasn’t exactly sure what the middle red veggie was (pickled beets or red cabbage maybe) it was all part of a great plate.”

  “LOVED this place! I'm not a local and was just visiting the area. Wanted a traditional English roast and after a quick search found this little gem. Great food, great attentive staff and a great atmosphere. I'd recommend and I'll be back. Thank you.”

  “We were 6 people that went for a Sunday Roast to The Geese after recommendations. We all rated it 6/10 or 5/10 overall. Definitely not the best roast in Brighton. The atmosphere of the pub itself is lovely. Would definitely go back for a drink but maybe not a roast. When we ordered no one told us there will be such a long wait, which often pubs and restaurants tell their customers to prepare them, but unfortunately nothing was said to us. We got Chicken, Beef, Lamb and the Veggie Wellington option. Out of those, the chicken and the beef were the best. We also got cauliflower and cheese and also broccoli and cheese which was burnt but it was then replaced and it was average tasting. Now all 6 of us agreed that there was a lack of veggies on our plates. The roasted potatoes somehow were both crispy and stale at the same time and a bit hard on the inside and the plates didn’t have an equal amount of potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding looked like a muffin and it was hard and cold when the food was served. The gravy on our plates was some of the tastiest gravy ever! Overall we waited almost an hour for our food. I wouldn’t mind if the communication from the staff was there as sometimes tasty things take time to get prepared but this was an average roast that confused me.”
