About Falmer Bar
Falmer Bar is a students' union bar in Falmer House on the University of Sussex campus, set within the South Downs National Park near Brighton. It is open to the public as well as students, and its pints are cheaper than those in Brighton city pubs, so visitors from town can drink there without a student card. Sunnys now handles the catering, and the food menu centres on burgers and wraps, including a duck wrap served with French fries. A happy hour starts in the evening, which gives the bar a second reason to stop in after the day's classes or work.

Customer Review Summary
Pints priced below city pubs are what reviewers raise most, with a visitor, a returning former student from the 1970s and others all noting the cheaper beer. Staff come up close behind, described as friendly, welcoming and cordial, including to people clearly not students, and one reviewer calls it a good place to stop before a Brighton game. Older accounts also praise the food, with one diner enjoying a duk wrap with French fries and another calling it tasty and cheap. Recent reviews turn sharply negative, and the complaint recurs. Several say the menu changed when a new food provider took over, describing much less variety, a choice of the least worst option, and burgers that taste less like burgers. One reviewer reports a single burrito taking far too long, and when they asked for an update they were told five minutes, yet it took longer still after that check.

“They changed the food provider. The new one sucks compared to the previous one - much less variety and the burgers taste less like burgers. And they're staying for 3 years.”

“Completely gutted the food menu. You used to have a wealth of choices, and now it's a choice of the least worst option. Also a pint of coca cola is £3.”
- Lauren Elms
“The food since Sunnys started catering is TERRIBLE, I was appalled by the recent change in menu as a place which used to be my favourite place to eat had now become somewhere I highly don’t recommend to anyone who asks me.”

“Good studdnts union bar. Very good prices, staff are great and made to fell very welcome even though clearly not a student. Great place to go b4 a brightin game”
- Ronnie Tremlett
“I used to drink there when a student in the 70s. Went back last week and it was more comfortable than it used to be. Beer was £4 a pint which is cheaper than pubs in Brighton. I liked it.”
