Customer Review Summary
The Sunday roast draws the most attention, with diners praising pork cooked perfectly, crisp roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a lamb option from a menu of five roasts. Sticky toffee pudding comes up close behind, called moist and excellent, though one reviewer would prefer less toffee sauce. Lunch visitors single out the cod, the chicken, homemade bread, fresh parfait and a chicken Nourish Bowl described as unexpectedly delicious. The beer selection on tap earns repeated praise, and the staff are called friendly and welcoming throughout. Complaints are few but specific. One reviewer found the Yorkshire pudding puffed but bland, two vegetarian diners were unsure about the orange veggie gravy, and another calls the food slightly expensive. One describes the toilets as a little grubby and the baby change as a tiny cubicle set high above the toilet. Dog owners mention the large multi level garden, and one visitor chatted with the bar staff for a good half hour.

“Great vibes, fantastic beers on tap and best of all, lovely staff. Sam, Lily and Rudi let me chew their ear off for a good half hour. Beautiful people”

“This is our local option alongside the Cleaveland and it has so many great reasons why: The food never lets us down it's always well made and great tasting, but it is slightly on the expensive side of things. There's a great selection of drinks, the staff are always friendly and the vibe is relaxed. It's baby friendly and chilled out. The only thing I'd say is that the toilets are a little on the grubby side and the baby change facilities aren't ideal being in a tiny cubicle and high above the toilet. The space is small though so they're making do - better than not having any!”

“Spacious pub with great beer and a rich menu. We came for the Sunday Roast. The menu was extensive, featuring five different roast options. I chose the lamb, which was tasty and filling. My only minor note is that the Yorkshire pudding, while impressively puffed, was a bit bland. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was excellent. The service was friendly and welcoming-a classic Brightonesque experience!”

“Had a Sunday roast here at the weekend at is was up there with the best. The pork was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! Roast potatoes were crisp, salty goodness. The veg (cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots, greens, sweet potato purée) were all just as you’d want them. Great big fluffy Yorkshire - good stuff. And the gravy was thin but it packed a flavour punch and was served in a good quantity! If I could change one thing it would have been to swap out the purée for extra apple sauce, but that’s personal preference! My partner and friend were equally impressed with the vegetarian roast, however they were both slightly unsure of the veggie gravy which was orange, potentially carrot or sweet potato based. It was tasty - just unexpected. The sticky toffee pudding was really moist and flavourful! Personally I like it with a little less toffee sauce, or for it to be in a jug, but it didn’t stop us eating it all. Will definitely be back.”
