About Mon Korea
Mon Korea is a family-run Korean restaurant in Birmingham, on Heathfield Rd, with a small dining room where guests sit wherever they like. The spicy chicken ramen is halal, which gives halal-observant diners a hot noodle dish to order, and the menu also carries vegan options for those avoiding meat and fish. The seafood pancake arrives with a dipping sauce, and takoyaki balls come topped with mayo. Shrimp tempura rounds out the starters. The restaurant opens Wednesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the crispy seafood pancake, which reviewers describe as crisp outside and doughy within, and which pairs well with its sauce alongside shrimp tempura. Close behind are the spicy chicken ramen, noted as halal, the beef soup, the glass noodles and a smoky tofu main from the vegan options. Takoyaki balls are called decent. Portions are repeatedly called generous, dishes arrive quickly and piping hot, and several mention that the staff and owner are friendly and kind. The room is described as small and cosy, like a home, and reviewers say it is always packed. One reviewer calls it good for groups of four to six sharing different dishes. Complaints are few but specific: one reviewer found some dishes too salty and thought the cooking was better when the kitchen was not busy, and another visited when only cash was accepted. One reviewer, who came on a staff recommendation from a wine bar, ate with no reservation and still had the food out quickly.

“this was honestly some of the best food i’ve had in a while. i had the spicy chicken ramen and it was delicious, and also halal. the staff are kind - nothing special but we had good service nonetheless. also, the experience inside the restaurant is super cosy and like a home, however it is fairly small.”

“Some dishes are tasty but some are too salty. Nice and friendly services. Prices are reasonable. It’s good for group of 4-6 people to taste different dishes. They can cook the dishes more tasty if they aren’t busy 😅”
