About Gujranwala Nashta & Naan

Gujranwala Nashta & Naan is an Asian restaurant in Birmingham, on Washwood Heath Rd, that serves Pakistani nashta, the breakfast meal. Nihari is the dish many diners order at breakfast, and roghni naan comes with it, while chanay is served alongside the naan. The restaurant is walk-in, so there is no booking to arrange. It has only a few tables for dining in, and Sunday mornings get busy. Payment is cash only, so bring notes or coins. Parking is hard to find on the main road, but the side roads have free spaces.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the chana and chicken salan tasteless, with the chicken salan watery under a layer of oil. Another called the chanay tasty but very watery, and the haleem only decent. One notes service could be faster and more attentive, and the room is simple. Reviewers mention only a few tables, a very busy Sunday breakfast, difficult parking on the main road with free spots on side roads, and a cash-only policy, so one advises bringing cash because no free ATMs are nearby.

“I ordered the chana and chicken salan from Gujranwala Nashta today, and it was a huge disappointment. Both dishes were completely tasteless. The chicken salan was extremely watery, with a thick layer of oil floating on top, and it lacked proper seasoning and flavor. It honestly felt like I was eating oil and water rather than a well-cooked curry. This was one of the most disappointing meals I've had. I expected much better quality and taste, especially considering the price. The food was not worth the money at all. I hope you seriously improve the quality and consistency of your dishes because, based on this experience, I won't be coming back.”

“We ordered chanay and Haleem with nan and pratha with omelette and cheese nan. Chanay were tasty but very watery graveyard. Haleem was decent. I think they do good kulcha nans. It was Sunday and very busy time for breakfast. There are only few tables to dine in. Staff is helpful and cooperative. Parking is difficult to find on this road but you can find free parking on side roads.”

“Phenomenal taste! The chef here has a blessed touch Masha'Allah..proper desi taste. I came here for breakfast with my family and we had the nehari and chana . The roghni naan was also 👌. I've tried other desi breakfast places on London and Birmingham... this one is the best. On par with Nageena in London. I will certainly be coming back here again insha'Allah”

“Gujranwala Nashta & Naan is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic, traditional Pakistani breakfast. The name says it all—this place specialises in the kind of hearty, flavour-packed morning meal that reminds you of home. We visited for breakfast and ordered the till vala naan, chana salaan, desi murgh, and halva. Every single dish was absolutely delicious—10/10! The flavours were rich, authentic, and clearly made with care . The naan deserves a special mention; one reviewer noted it was the only highlight in an otherwise average meal, so you know it's exceptional . What truly made the experience special was the service. Mr. Amir was incredibly kind and friendly, especially with children—he even made a special mini naan for my happy son . That kind of personal touch is rare and wonderful to see.”
