Customer Review Summary
Pasta anchors the praise, led by the lasagne, described as rich with many layers, and the Tris di Paste sampler, alongside penne arrabbiata, duck tagliatelle and wild boar stuffed pasta parcels. Close behind is the tiramisu, which two reviewers call the best they have had. The specials board earns mentions too, including salmon, fish cakes and a king prawn and monkfish linguine, and reviewers name the Grillo and a red wine as standouts. Diners describe a relaxed, warm atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff, and a solo diner says they did not feel awkward eating alone. One reviewer praises the gluten free options. The complaints are small and mostly about pace. One diner found service brisk and would have preferred it slower, and felt the two steaks needed a touch more resting. Another notes delays with drinks on a busy Friday. Several reviewers describe small gestures, including complimentary homemade focaccia to start and a birthday dessert that the team made special.

“Birthday dinner at Cucina Rustica on Saturday night. Service was brisk throughout, and although we'd have preferred it a tad slower, there's a busy, hungry restaurant to cater for, so no complaints. Two from the specials menu to start, fish cakes and the vegetali marinati, both very tasty. Two bisteccas for mains, con funghi and al pepe verde, both well cooked, although a touch more resting for both ideally. Like the food menu, the wine list is comprehensive and competitively priced, with the Bocca di Lupo always a winner. A luxurious tiramisu to finish, the best I've ever had, accompanied by a couple of grappas and amaretto. Special mention to our wonderful waitress, Eriselda, both professional and charming. When we left just before ten, the place was still full whilst other restaurants we walked past were much quieter. I like Cucina Rustica a lot, and can't wait to go back. Thanks guys.”

“Absolutely fantastic experience at Cucina Rustica. We visited as a group of three and couldn’t fault a single thing. The food was incredible from start to finish. We ordered the Tris di Paste, lasagne and Focaccia Romana, and every dish was full of flavour, freshly made and generously portioned. The Tris di Paste was a particular highlight, as it was a great way to try a selection of different pasta dishes, and the lasagne was rich, comforting and one of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lovely authentic Italian feel that made the whole experience even better. The service was equally impressive – everyone was friendly, attentive and made us feel well looked after without being intrusive. For three people, we thought it was excellent value for the quality of the food, service and overall experience. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great Italian food in Birmingham.”

“Great authentic Italian restaurant serving delicious food with excellent gluten free options. Relaxed vibe lots of menu choices including some more interesting pasta sauces - duck tagliatelle, wild boar stuffed pasta parcels. There are also the classics, including lasagne with many layers of pasta. Service was attentive and accurate but not overbearing. Prices were very reasonable. Would return.”
