Customer Review Summary
Duck risotto, described as duck and truffle in one review, is the dish diners name most, with the mussels, a seafood marinara and a light, airy tiramisu close behind. Several call the food fresh, delicious and authentic home-cooked Italian, with generous portions, and others praise friendly, attentive staff. One family says gluten free pasta and pizza bases let their celiac daughter order almost anything, and another reviewer says the owners accommodated every dietary requirement at a birthday party. Live Cuban and salsa music upstairs sits alongside a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. The complaints are sharper. One diner found no prawns or lamb cutlets available and says this was not mentioned before ordering. They then waited a long time for a few pieces of diced lamb with salad and potatoes, and had to ask for a discount to be applied at the bill. Another reports shouting from the kitchen, with a manager aggressive toward waiters, and left before dessert. Complimentary desserts appeared at two tables, including free ones for the kids with extra spoons.

“What a find! We're in Birmingham for a few nights, staying nearby and we're looking for somewhere "easy" after a long day travelling, we were seated quickly by friendly staff and had soon ordered! Food was delicious and drinks were too 😁 service was lovely and attentive without being overdone. When we asked for the bill, free desserts appeared for the kids (with extra spoons! 😉) If we lived here, we'd be back regularly, and it's one I'll remember if I'm ever back!”

“Thanks Eric, I have been traveling to Birmingham for the past 12 months, tried most that Birmingham has to offer, paid lots more trying to find something better, but for me, this is authentic, home cooked Italian food, with a host and serving staff that will always try their best.. Just ask for what’s fresh, don’t blindly look at the menu, engage, that’s what it’s about.. Thank you…”

“The food wasn’t the worst part of the experience, but still quite misleading that this establishment entitles itself as “Italian”, when its cuisine is all but remotely southern European. What made me cringe was mostly all the screaming coming out of the kitchen, between what I assume to be the restaurant manager and his employees, with the first one showing quite aggressive behaviours and sometimes shouting at the waiters in a foreign language I wasn’t able to recognise. Both me and my friends felt disturbed by this behaviour, which made us cut our meal short and leave before dessert.”

“I did my partners’ birthday party here. It’s a fantastic venue. They served all our friends with awesome food, great service, fresh ingredients. If you have dietary requirements the owners of the restaurant are quite accommodating. They accomadated all our dietary requirements. It’s not like most of chain restaurants that serve you from pre-prepared meals in fancy cutlery! Their seafood marinara is great.”

“!Gluten free options! Our family had a fantastic experience at this Italian. Great food, amazing atmosphere, lots of chatting amongst the clientele and a band playing Cuban/salsa music upstairs. The most important bit though is how they catered for our celiac daughter. They were brilliantly attentive. They had gluten free pasta and pizza bases, so almost anything on the menu was available to her. She left saying it was the best experience in a restaurant she'd had in 3 years of diagnosis. Thank you ♥️”
