About Sahara Shisha Lounge Birmingham

Sahara Shisha Lounge Birmingham is a hookah bar on New Bartholomew St in Birmingham, with sofas for seating and photo spots that include a swing, angel wings and a light ring. Shisha is the main order, with frozen blueberry among the flavours. The food menu adds loaded fries and dessert, and tea is served alongside drinks ordered at the bar. The lounge is quiet earlier in the evening and busier later on, so the pace changes as the night goes. People use it to catch up with friends, play board games or get some work done. The lounge takes walk-ins, and paid street parking is nearby.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers return to Sahara mainly for the shisha, which several call smooth or very good, with frozen blueberry and lime/mint singled out by one. Close behind is the spacious room, described as clean and nicely decorated, with a swing, angel wings and a light ring for photos, and a quiet early evening that suits relaxing, board games or getting work done. The food draws a lukewarm response, with loaded fries called very tasty, the dessert enjoyed, and another reviewer finding the food okay but not memorable. Service is the recurring complaint and splits the reviews. Some find staff friendly and attentive, while others describe slow service in a near-empty room, cold and dismissive workers who just point at the menu, and little to no people skills. One group of 15 says they were told to order drinks at the bar while they were the only customers, and also reports unclean toilets and entrance. A few mention sofas marked by smoke burns and a pot of water with mint leaves feeling steep for the price. One reviewer notes a refurb is planned.

“I had a generally pleasant visit here. The food was okay; it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't particularly memorable. 😋 The service, however, was quite good, with staff being attentive and friendly. The atmosphere also contributed positively to the experience. ✨ It's a nice spot. 👍”

“Okay, I rate this 5 starts because this is a place to come to if you want good shisha, to relax, and get some work done, play board games or catch up with friends. And for that reason I come back repeatedly. I don’t come for the food or the atmosphere, I come for the quiet and the shisha. They are also doing a refurb soon which may increase the comfort of the place.”

“Despite the place being completely empty, the waiter told all 15 of us to go to the bar to order drinks. We were literally the only customers in the venue for the full two hours we were there. On top of that, the toilets and entrance smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned at all. The service was poor and unwelcoming from the start. I suggested we leave immediately based on how we were treated, but one of our group had already arrived earlier and ordered shisha, so we ended up staying.”
