Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the sheer size of this former department store pub, describing it as huge with plenty of seating, so a table or a corner is usually easy to find even when busy. Close behind is quick, affordable pub food, with the ultimate burger and chips and large portions named, plus ordering on the app so no one loses a table. Several mention a buzzing, lively crowd, and one praises the bottomless brunch, where a server kept the table laughing. Beer and the drinks range draw praise, and breakfast and brunch are called popular. Complaints are service-focused. One reviewer describes one of the slowest services they have experienced, with tables left uncleared and looking messy. Another says a pint of Black Dragon Cider ordered on the app was swapped for a bottle that turned out to be under a pint and the wrong version. A breakfast reviewer reports rubbery bacon, hard eggs, cold toast and dirty cutlery. One reviewer says it is loud and lively on weekends.

“Just what you expect from a spoons. World cup Argentina Egypt on big screen TV. Reasonably priced beer and ultimate burger and chips. All ordered on the App so didn't loose the table or have to lug my bag through the crowds. No complaints from me at all.”

“Possibly being a little pedantic here...bought a pint of Black Dragon Cider on the app. Was told by the waiter that they no longer had pints...only bottles. I pointed out Id take the bottle if it was >= 1 pint. If it wasnt, Id take a pint of Old Rosie. He returned, put down the bottle and quickly scuttled off b4 I could examine the bottle. What a surprise...it was less than a pint! Also, not the still version, like both of the options discussed. As a loyal Wetherspoons customer - forth one today - I am NOT impressed!! First negative review.”

“Stopped by here recently and had a surprisingly decent experience. The place had a nice, relaxed atmosphere and everything ran pretty smoothly. Food and drinks were good for the price, and the staff seemed on top of things. It’s the kind of spot that does exactly what you expect, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Would probably pop in again.”
