About Scruffy Murphy's
Scruffy Murphy's is a rock and heavy metal pub on Dale End in Birmingham, with a tiny live music room downstairs that holds roughly 50 to 75 people. Bands play on gig nights, and standing room sits right beside them. The jukebox keeps rock and heavy metal playing between sets. Inside, cased props and memorabilia fill the space, with Ozzy Osbourne tributes in the decor, and a large mural covers an outside wall. Burgers are on the food menu, and the bar makes cocktails. The draft selection is limited, with some ales served in bottles. A multi-storey car park sits directly above the venue.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the tiny downstairs room for live music, where standing right beside the band makes for a personal show. Around it, the pub is described as a rock and metal bar that actually plays metal all the time, with a jukebox covering many genres, a pool table, a large outdoor mural and decor reviewers call excellent. Strong cocktails and the burgers draw specific praise, and several mention friendly bar staff and quick service. Daytime is described as quiet, while weekends get very busy. The recurring drawback is the drinks range: the draft selection is small, with ale mostly in bottles, and one reviewer found no tap beer left after a huge gig weekend, even though the pub had ordered four times its normal amount. One visit also had no food on, so people brought their own from the McDonald's across the road.

“I've been coming to Scruffys for a few years and I've always been a big fan of it, all enclusive, friendly, accessible (for wheelchair users I'd recommend suggesting a call before to know your arrival or a friend to alert the bar of your arrival as main entrance is steps) the staff are attentive, alert, supportive and very well efficient and quick and on point with recommendations and quick. They have a great selection of cocktails, they handle extraordinarily well as they're customised to songs and bands etc. They consistently have posted bands, events, promos etc. But also! Have 2 floors. A pool table with good ques and felt. Great pints, liqour, shots and cocktails - and also soft drinks and varieties for the non-drinking crowd. Always clean, tidy, smooth running. Many seating areas, tables, bar stools, Including two sofa lounges specifically where you can charge your phones etc, even by plug or USB. Great Comfort, accommodation, and the crowd are always friendly and familiar, of all ranges, but respectfully 30+ years so it's nice and respectful rather than a dive bar young scene elsewhere etc. There is also a jukebox, that is very decked out with older to newer tunes of MANY genres. The lovely DJ host Yoda is on Saturday's, but come on down to find out what deals they have each daily! Many gig nights etc. Or even prizes sometimes! Prices are fair and better than most. Smoking area out front, with seats and stools. CCTV, very safe, very friendly, even if on your own. Safest bar I know in Birmingham in rock n roll! ❤️ A true Ozzy Osbourne commerarion too! The prince of darkness, find the newest updates art work, updated glass work, and painted walls of extravagant important, timeless artists here!”

“Great rock bar, excellent decor and actually playing metal all the time unlike some other bars I have visited.”

“Visited Saturday night to see some live music, Plug in Maybe. Really great place, relaxed, great music, quick service. No food on but they were happy for people to bring their own (McDonald's just across the road). The room with the live music was small which was great as we were able to stand right by the band (who were amazing). We were driving and the venue literally has a multi storey car park above it so it couldn't be more convenient. Had a fantastic night here and will definitely be back.”
