About Canalside Bar
Canalside Bar is a small old pub on Gas St in Birmingham, just off the canal. Breakfast runs all day, and a vegan breakfast sits on the menu for anyone avoiding animal products. Toasties and pizza cover the lighter meals. Behind the bar, real ales are served on cask from at least three pumps, with cider and cocktails alongside. Tea comes with scones, and vegan cake is also available. A fireplace sits inside the pub. Dogs are welcome, so walkers along the canal can stop in with their pets.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the real ale selection at this canalside pub, with several noting at least three decent pumps, cask ales, and cider such as stowford press and aspells. Beers, ciders and cocktails get mentioned alongside it, and the traditional, cosy feel and outdoor tables by the canal come up repeatedly. Dogs being welcome is one reviewer's reason for returning. Food gets a more mixed response. One diner enjoyed a vegan breakfast, a scone with tea and vegan cake, and another liked a veg sandwich, while a baguette with chips, a toastie and a pizza are also mentioned. Complaints center on kitchen availability: one visitor found food unavailable at 7.30pm on a Sunday despite menu boards still out, another was told food wasn't being served and suggests calling ahead, and a third had to ask for toast to be done more and never received the breakfast drink included with the meal. One cider arrived flat and room temperature, and the outside tables were called a bit grubby. Staff are often described as friendly and attentive, and a bartender's warm welcome stands out.

“I stopped by, by chance and I fancied a couple of beers and a snack. This pub was perfect, a small selection of great ales and beers which were brilliant, the food was great if you're looking for a baguette with chips, a toastie or a pizza. The staff and owners were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.”

“Nice bar by canal. Good selection of real ales and they had stowford press and aspells cyder. Outside tables are a bit grubby. The all day breakfast stops at 5pm and food is supposed to be served until 9pm however it was not available at 7.30pm on a Sunday night. Menu boards were still out and menus still on tables. Really disappointing”

“Such a hidden Gem in a busy area of Birmigham. The Pub has a brilliant traditional feel about the place with a really welcoming vibe. Ale selection was great with at least 3 decent pumps. All in all well worth a visit if your nearby”
