About Dumpling Library
Dumpling Library is a pan-Asian restaurant on St. Anne's Square in Belfast, serving an Asian fusion menu as small plates. Its rainbow dumplings sampler brings five varieties, one piece each, so a table can try a range of dumplings in a single order. Crab and pork xiao long bao are part of the dumpling lineup, and duck appears in several dishes, served shredded, with pancakes or with vegetable fried rice. Rice and noodle plates such as bibimbap sit alongside the small plates for those who want something more filling. A cocktail list runs next to the food, and it includes a whiskey cocktail.

Customer Review Summary
Cocktails come up most often. Reviewers praise the Library Signature and a whiskey cocktail as delicious, and others call the drinks creative and well presented, though one found the signature light on alcohol. The food draws warmer comments for the bibimbap, beef udon, rainbow dumplings and duck with vegetable fried rice, alongside descriptions of sweet, attentive staff and a cozy, beautiful room. Dumplings split opinion. Several say they have had better, and one found the crab and pork xiao long bao and chicken dumplings disappointing. Another reported deep fried dishes tasting of old oil, duck that seemed not freshly cooked, and octopus balls with the consistency of wall-paper paste and barely any octopus. The breadcrumbed chicken with spicy peanut yoghurt had no spice for one table, and another felt few servers checked in on a packed room. Some call it expensive. One group celebrating a occasion was seated in a pod and singled it out.

“Had a lovely time with my family for my brother’s birthday. Food so good and beautifully served that nobody took any pictures of main food, we just dived in. Highly recommended. Will come back, definitely.”

“The restaurant itself feels a little oppressive with it dark moody lighting, even during a lovely sunny day they have dark closed curtains. The food was disappointing. Anything deep fried had a taste of old oil. Amongst the plates we had, the 2 duck dishes (shredded; and with pancakes) it was obvious that the duck was not freshly cooked that day. It had that older roast meat taste and feel to it. The octopus balls were just balls of clag with very little octopus within. They had the consistency of wall-paper paste and I found half a centimetres of a really small tentacle within. They were really quiet offensive to the mouth. An unpleasant dining experience with mediocre food. A nice cocktail list but we didn't try any to review those.”

“Dumpling library is an Asian fusion restaurant, it mainly serves dishes in small plates or as tapas , they however have a few selection of rice and noodles dishes , while all the food taste very very good , the showstopper are the drinks , they are very nice and presented very well. While they have a lot of indoor seating area , their outdoor seating needs a minimum purchase of £200 ( for the pods) it’s moderately priced and slightly expensive but still worth the try. My personal favourite was the beef udon noodles”

“Had high hopes for this place because the decor is lovely and the atmosphere felt really nice when we arrived. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations for us. We ordered the crab and pork xiao long bao and the chicken dumplings, but both were pretty disappointing. I’ve definitely had better dumplings elsewhere. We also tried the breadcrumbed chicken breast with the spicy peanut yoghurt, but there was nothing remotely spicy about it and the sauce mostly just tasted like plain yoghurt. The cocktails were probably the highlight. The Library Signature cocktail was delicious, although it didn’t really taste like it had much alcohol in it. My partner’s whiskey cocktail was also quite nice. Overall, I wouldn’t return for the food, though it’s possible we just didn’t order the most popular dishes on the menu.”

“Visited Dumpling Library for dinner. The staff were extremely sweet. We ordered a sweet corn with crab soup, rainbow dumplings (5 varieties- 1 pc each) and duck with vegetable fried rice. The food was made fresh and was delicious. One must visit. The ambience is so cozy and beautiful.”
