About White Field Coffee

A deliberately short drinks list sets the pace at White Field Coffee, a coffee shop on Upper Lisburn Road in the Finaghy area of Belfast, where a selection of gluten-free treats gives coeliac customers something to eat alongside the coffee rather than just a drink. Lattes and drip coffee lead the orders, with tea served too and seasonal options such as a pumpkin spice latte appearing on the board. Food runs alongside, including a bagel with bacon and cream cheese, and hot items and snacks can be packed up to take away with a drink. There is no booking, so you order at the counter and staff carry orders out to the tables, and a queue can build in the small room. Outdoor seating lets you sit with a coffee in the open air, high chairs suit families with young children, and a step-free entrance serves visitors with mobility needs. Parking sits both in front and round the back, and the doors open daily.

Customer Review Summary

Coffee is what draws people back, with one fussy coffee drinker singling out a pumpkin spice latte, another a good latte after a hospital visit, and a third the drip coffee, while several also praise the cup of tea. The staff come up nearly as often, described as friendly, chatty and welcoming, including toward a reviewer's disabled brother. Below that, regulars mention fresh food, a good selection of gluten free treats, and a dog friendly, lovely atmosphere, and one notes prices they found unusual for a coffee shop. The food does draw the sharpest criticism: one visitor found a bagel with bacon and cream cheese poorly presented and not worth what it cost. Another describes a first visit spent waiting to order while the counter staff ferried orders to tables, then sitting at an uncleaned table and waiting again for a coffee and tea, concluding an extra staff member would have helped. One reviewer who arrived without a wallet in heavy rain was simply given a coffee.

“Lovely staff and atmosphere. I can't believe I forgot my wallet at home and they didn't just stay (it was raining cats and dogs outside) but they also invited me to a great coffee! It was a compassionate gesture that made my day.”

  • Linda Tait
“First time in the place this morning, and to be honest I'll not be rushing back! Place wasn't overly busy, 2 customers in line in front of me but stood for nearly 10 mins before being served as the girl kept leaving to take previous orders to the tables. Finally ordered a coffee and a tea, went and sat at a table, which hadn't been cleaned. Then waited another 20 mins on my order arriving. 1 more staff member would have been handy...”
