  “We had our first fish and chips supper from the Lakeside today. I'm afraid it will the last time, the fish was very nice. The service was good and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately the chip's were awful, I don't know if it was because of the oil or dodgy potatoes but we didn't eat them all. Overall rather disappointing.”

  “Absolutely appalling portions of chips again Seems like they are serving up the left overs from lunchtime Fish was amazing Just a good job we had beans all over the chips else they’d have been so hard they wouldn’t have been edible Not the first time either”

  “Too long waiting for 2 pies, sausage and chips. Over 45 minutes wait. Got home and only got 1 pie. Food not hot left on hotplate. This is not the first time and as nice as some of the staff are if you continue to get orders wrong then they definitely will not be returning. Got a lady in there appeared so stressed and just rushing around and ended up getting orders wrong.”

  “chips are dry and over cooked more like oven chips! plus you better hope you don’t get served after someone waiting for fish because they go in order, so I wanted one bag of chips and had to wait for the fish to cook and the order to be done for the person in front of me…doesn’t make sense when they could just do my chips and not how any other chip shop do it very frustrating also cash only is annoying!”

  “I've been many times before and was ok. Been today, awful worst I've had. The pie was cold an dry. Chips hard an dry. Mushy peas, how hard can it be to make them hot. Very disappointed, shame on you. 🤬🥵”

  “Lakeside Fish and Chips used to be my favorite spot for a quick lunch during work breaks — I would come here almost every day. The food was fresh, delicious, and the service was genuinely friendly. Unfortunately, I feel like something changed at some point, possibly a management change, and that's when everything started to go downhill. Waiting times have become much longer, especially during lunch hours when the place gets packed with workers from nearby factories. That would still be bearable if the food quality remained the same. Sadly, the chips are often undercooked or cold, and the fish tends to be greasy with a heavy, tough batter. A few times, the meal even looked like it had been reheated. The service has also worsened — there were occasions when I was treated quite indifferently, which is a big contrast compared to the warm and welcoming attitude I remember from the past. On top of that, the place still only accepts cash, which can be inconvenient. It’s a shame because I used to genuinely enjoy this place. Now, I visit less and less, each time hoping it will return to its former glory.”

  “Serve the most delicious food, had a jumbo battered sausage, cod, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce and every single bit was absolutely delicious and such a great price. Seen comments about the wait time and yes it’s a little long but it’s so worth it because the food is freshly cooked and melt in your mouth. Honestly beyond 5*”

  “Before there were new owners, the food was lovely. Cooked properly, staff were amazing. But today we ordered and my brother's burger was over cooked, his bun was covered in blood from the patty. There were hairs in the bag of chips and my nephews saveloy didn't look cooked at all.”
