About The Inn at Freshford
The Inn at Freshford is a pub in Bath, on The Hill, set in an inn from the 1500s built of honey-coloured stone and heated by open fires. Behind it, a beer garden looks over the river and countryside. The menu runs to 35 dishes, from Cured Mackerel, Beetroot, Horseradish Granita to a steak and ale pie and fish and chips made with fresh fish. The bar pours local beers and cask-style pints alongside house ciders. A private dining room gives groups a space of their own, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
The steak and ale pie, called divine, anchors the praise, with other reviewers also singling out a pie alongside fish and chips, both described as delicious and generous in portion. Close behind are a burger, a roasted chicken meal, soup, and a sticky toffee pudding, while drinkers mention the local beers, the house ciders, and a sparkling cremant. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and warmly welcoming, and reviewers mention a lovely vibe and a cosy atmosphere. The main complaint comes from one diner who ordered the catch of the day cod and received what they called an extremely small piece, while a neighbouring table got a decent fillet. They say the waitress promised to pass on feedback, but no apology or reduction followed. Another reviewer, visiting under new management, found it quiet on a hot afternoon, though the soup and beer were excellent. One reviewer advises arriving hungry, and the garden earns praise for its view over the river and countryside.

“This is a great place to be, it’s a gorgeous pub with a lovely vibe. I’ve always had good food here and even greater company. The FOH staff are the most accommodating people in the area. I really enjoy having a natter with the staff and they always spend the time to make you feel welcome and at home. Special thanks to Bea, Bee, Tom, and Noah. Alaina, you’re doing a great job with this place. You will all see me again and again in times to come.”

“We had a spontaneous dinner here and the food and service was fantastic. It is a really friendly pub, we were really warmly welcomed. We were served by Libby who was very attentive. We had fish and chips and the pie, which as excellent and they were great portions. They also had a great range of beers and bar snacks. Thoroughly recommended !”

“Admittedly it was a hot late afternoon and the patronage was thin on the ground, but this being my first visit under the new administration, I was previously used to a more vibrant atmosphere. The soup dish was very well done, presented by agreeable staff, and the beer was in excellent condition. I think a further visit or two would need to be achieved to establish how well the new people are doing.. This was, after all, one of THE most must-do venues for walkers, foodie, and those who appreciate a decent pint. Let's wish the new administration well (Joining the Cask Marque Ale Trail would be agood move)”

“We had lunch here today for the first time in a couple of years. The staff were really friendly, and all three of us thought our food was excellent - pie, burger, and fish and chips all delicious. We will definitely be going back soon, hopefully to sit in the garden once that's reopened, as it has a lovely view over the river and countryside.”
