About The Brasserie at Darleys
The Brasserie at Darleys is a British restaurant in Derby, on Waterfront Darley Abbey Mill, beside the River Derwent and its weir with views over the water. The kitchen cooks over fire, and dishes are priced individually and served as they are ready, so tables can share and set their own pace. Live saxophone music plays by the weir. A nine-course tasting menu is available with a vegetarian version and optional wine pairings, and the main menu carries plenty of vegetarian choices. Breakfast runs as a multi-course meal that includes eggs benedict and mushrooms on toast. Brunch and a lunch menu with lunch deals are also served.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the tasting menu and the set-course meals, with a nine course tasting menu enjoyed alongside wine pairings and a vegetarian version that kept the fish course for one diner. Close behind are the steaks, with the lamb cannon and the Chateaubriand described as beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Brunch and breakfast draw praise too, including eggs benedict on a crumpet and mushrooms on toast, and several call the pricing low for the quality, with lunch deals singled out as good value. The riverside views, the terrace cocktails and live saxophone music add to the evenings, and service is described as friendly, patient and professional. The one caveat comes from a four-star reviewer who found the food slightly lacking in flavour and the portion small for the price. Others close on a personal touch, such as a server who handed over a birthday card and a small plate sent out for a friend's birthday.

“Nice atmosphere, service was good. Felt the food was just lacking slightly in flavour and the portion size of my dish I would say was on the small size for the price. Overall a pleasant evening.”

“Amazing dinner. Great New Brasserie menu. I was struggling to choose what to have as the menu was so full of exciting choices. Lots of vegetarian choices. Great wine. Amazing views. Professional and friendly service. We had a saxophonist and that was really nice to hear”

“We never had a chance to visit before they have rebranded unfortunately but we decided we'd go for a birthday weekend brunch and had a fantastic time The food we had was incredible, the server was friendly and so kind. Even gave us a birthday card! Considering this place is supposedly to be fine dining (the quality and taste of the food certainly matched this description!) the price was surprisingly low. Very affordable compared to the quality you get here. Absolutely recommend the weekend brunch!”

“Always a special place to go for its location by the river and weir but the food quality was exceptional! Wonderful flavours, beautifully cooked and presented and pleasant helpful waiting staff - one of the best meals I’ve had in Derby. Will look forward to returning and would highly recommend!”

“Darleys in Derby was a really impressive experience from start to finish. We had the lamb cannon and the Chateaubriand, and both dishes were excellent — beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and presented to a very high standard. The service was just as impressive: attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout. You can really tell they take pride in both the food and the overall dining experience. We had a fantastic meal and will definitely be back again.”
